There's no background and no explanations...
There are three [edit] sad [/edit] reasons for this:

1) Foreigners are really foreign to us. It doesn't make sense why you always seem to be violently feuding with rockets and machine guns over some place that looks like a pile of mine tailngs. Can it really be that desparate? Look, if you have a property dispute you take them to court, if you have damages you sue: what is this with the feuding? So the background is only confusing and meaningless.

2) Short historical memories, short attention spans, just tell us who the bad guys and good guys are.

3) I forget the last.

landrvr1's Guide To Recent Events In Some Other Part Of The World

That Georgia has acted badly, and will continue to do so, is a given.

That Geogia has used brutal methods of it's own, is a given.

That South Ossetia wants independence, and deserves it's independence - from BOTH Georgia AND Mother (fucking) Russia, is a given.

That South Ossetia's separatists have also committed brutal acts is a given.

That South Ossetia is little more than a Puppet State of Russia *cough*Soviet Union*cough* is a given.

That Russia, contrary to South Ossetia's statements of independence, considers South Ossetia to be part of Russia, is a given.

That Russia considers the people of South Ossetia to be RUSSIAN CITIZENS is a given.

That South Ossetia feels close ties to Russia but actually DOESN'T WANT to be a Puppet State of the Soviet Union is a given.

That Russia didn't even bother with the pretense of a DIPLOMATIC solution once hostilities ramped up is a given.

That Russia responded to Georgia's actions with typical Soviet brutality and ruthlessness - that is in no way proportionate to Georgia's initial act - is a FUCKING given.

That Russia has committed an illegal act of war is a given.

That Russia continues to support, arm, and aid South Ossetia is a given.

That Russia has brutally and mercilessly attempted to put down Every Single Breakaway Republic is a given.

That Russia should stay the fuck out of the affairs of South Ossetia and Georgia is a given.

That Russia hates that fucking pipeline, and has opposed it's presence since the early concept stage, is a given.

That Russia thinks it OWNS the Caucasus is a given.

That Russia wants to control energy exports in the region is a given.

That Russia needs to let go of it's Empire Mentality is a given.

That douchebags here and everywhere scramble to 'justify' Russia's aggression, brutality, and illegal act of war is a given.

That muffinLowIntellect is Not A Girl, but Not Yet A Woman, is a MAJOR FUCKING given.

There's about 20 or so more things, but this is a good starting point, no?

Take your time reading, kids. Especially you MuffinDick. I know you need to use a ruler to underline each sentence so that the words don't all jumble together.

I'll wait patiently and take your questions one by one.

without a doubt.

but in this particular case we are sick for stopping georgian government from killing innocent civilians of South Osetia, most of which are russian, btw.

Tshinvali has been burned down to the ground, not a single house has been left standing. georgian tanks have simply erased it in a matter of hours. people were trapped in their basements without food or water for days, and those who attempted to get out were shot by georgian hitmen.

predictably enough, as soon as the russia has put tanks into occupied south osetia - it has become the main aggressor in the western media. while some candidates in the US presidential race are dancing on the graves on innocent people. this is propaganda, and it has always been the most effective mean to influence in the right way the political views of idiot masses.

the whole world is sick, my polish mate.

Hey asshole.

"The aggressor has been punished, having sustained considerable losses. Its armed forces have been disorganised."
-Russian President Dmitry Medvedev

Words that are chillingly similar to those used by Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, etc etc etc etc etc

whenever they attempt to explain yet another illegal act of war and aggression.

You can paint this however the fuck you want, but a single little tiny fact remains.

Georgia didn't attack Russia.

If Medvedev starts to use the term EVIL DOERS, then we're in real trouble.
This is such a stretch it's not even funny. The parts of Georgia that Georgia attacked were NOT HAPPY being part of Georgia and had been so incorporated back into Russia that they had been issued passports. This had been acknowledged and an ongoing thing for over 15 years! Basically those areas had freely elected to return to Russia, and it was only a matter of time before they did. Georgia attacked those areas to bring them back into their fold. I would hardly call that Russia attacking first, and even if you were going to ignore the fact that all of Georgia had been under Russian control for 200 plus years, you would still not be able to compare it to Saddam, and it would still not look like Russia aggressively attacking innocent Georgia because it was angry about losing it's empire.
I seriously wonder how much you know about this? because it really doesn't seem like you know much at all?
I was actually hoping for an answer to the question I posted earlier from someone here, what exactly was Georgia thinking??? It makes zero sense to me to attack breakaway provinces that want to align with a noted superpower?

The only similarity here is that Russia wants regime change in Georgia, but the reasons are clear, this particular Georgian president is openly aggressive with Russia, and willing to kill ethnic russians in his country to take back property that has been lost to him.

It sucks, but we still suck worse for Iraq, get over it, and stop trying to paint the rest of the world as being just as bad or worse. We get the war mongering superstar badge. Sure at some point some other asshole will commit an unprovoked act of aggression with barely a leg to stand on, that will makes us look like sweet little pussycats. This one simply doesn't qualify. Russia has good reasons to attack Georgia, and until you acknowledge that, you're just trolling like LM is saying, or really don't know what's going on, like everybody else is saying.

I don't know where the fuck you're getting your info, other than perhaps Pravda, but South Ossetia demands and desires autonomy and independence. At no time has South Ossetia voted to be brought back into Mother Russia. I challenge you to prove otherwise.

Russia has good reasons to attack Georgia...
omfg

You prove my point, perfectly. Thank you.

Hey asshole. There's about 500 news websites that contain timelines of what's occured. Some of them go as far back as the 18th Century.

You've got nothing to say on the issue at hand, so you cry "Waaaa, waaa, Timeline! Timeline!"

The irony.
