Dude, think your missing the point here - for me at least.
You are thinking in material terms. Consider for a moment, that the physical universe you experience with your senses, and that can be measured with scientific instruments, is but a fraction of the true reality... that there are dimensions/planes which we cannot knowingly experience directly in our everyday reality.

The idea of God is different for different cultures... the western/Christian personification of God is, for me just a tool for control, a big brother image, watching our every move, punishing "bad" and rewarding "good".

For me (my personal view) God is just a way of describing the universal conciousness, the One which we are all part of. In that sense we are all God... just an individual expression of the whole.

I could go on about this but i'm @ work!!

Place your bets on the 100th post now....
BoimB son of BoB wrote:as to what there was before the big bang. who cares. certainly no god dude walking around.

use your imagination i can come up with a few nice ideas that are no less or more 'provable' than your GOD hypothesis.

i'd rather believe in super aliens that created our universe. aliens meaning they themselves being the result of a gradual process of natural selection.

my system is way more powerfull than your god. your god is weak.

if i speak of god i dear spek of god as the universe and even beyond that. god for me isn't a concious force or something with a will or guided ordering powers.

the god i speak of is nothing compared wirth your lunatic mindtwist that dominated men thousands of years.

we have alteratives now that more elegantly describe nature as it is as close to the truth as possible. god thinking is useless and a waste of precious time. god hypothesis won't help cure cancer, science will. why? because it lets people search for the TRUTH with a simple set pf rules guidelines. the results of just 200 yers western science are way more mindboggling than fucking 4000 year old god praising rituals that have ZERO purpose. or at most a placebo effect.

thank you, idiot

Dear Tone, I appreciate your very lengthy comment. Regarding the issues of free will and the Deluge, I have dealt with them on other posts, here:

Yeah, your pal is a fucking genious. I AM A ROBOT, I HAVE NO FREE WILL. PRESS ANY KEY TO CONTINUE.
Just another jackass with a blog, seriously, he's just name calling and trivialising his opponents without a real argument, I'm sure his followers think he's just peachy. He doesn't get atheism, he doesn't have to wave his flag around. He's as bad as any religious zealot.

Google - Expanding universe before you dismiss J&H, even if he's thrashing about like a 4 year old.

Yeah, why debate a slouch. Much better to debate theological issues with DAW musicians who share opinions like your own. I can understand that, it's comfy.

Really? He only seems to get atheism too well (see his response(s) to atheists posting on his blog).

I joined the Ableton forums and all I found was Jesus.

My entire participation in this thread is word play, I didn't think I was just agreeing with other people who think like me. I'm not sure anyone here really does, dunno.

My posts come down to 3 things:
1. The Flying Spaghetti Monster routine - if you can put the FSM into a post and it still makes sense, it's religious bullshit fluff. Ramen, brotha!

2. The invisible boogey man in the sky who loves and hates you is a control mechanism to convey control norms and political agendas.

3. God is not the answer to every question you can't answer.

wow, that Jewish Philosopher is great eh?

apparently Stonehenge was under water for 300 years, but you cant see any evidence of that because it was 'supernatural' water. Excellent stuff.

if we can not experience these other dimensions and they are NOT connected to ours in any way measurable or noticable, than they simply do not exist to ous.

so why bother anyway.

YOU give me any example of what you mean. cause there are no ghosts but some people do believe in them.

as a matter of fact you are stating just that: "consider there are ghost in your house watching yourevery move" as long as these Ghosts of yours are not noticable or have any impact at all, then for me they simply don't exist. and you know what, chances are the ghosts do not exist at all and you are dillusional.

When your pasta monster shtick does for humans what relgion has done, good and bad, this horid analogy may hold some weight.

The problem is, this boogey man doesn't seem to want to go away. And with respect to contol and political agendas...the Torah is chock full of inconsistincies, rituals that make no practical sense, stories that make the Hebrew tribe look really, really bad...I could've wrote a more effective "call to arms" in a weekend.

We agree. It's a weak arguement.

You missed the point, it's a 'praise indicator'. If someone says "how could god NOT have created the heavens and the earth? They're so wonderful and so is god! Then insert FSM, or Zeus, or Buddha, or Vishnu... I find it to be a great indicator of the nature of a 'god statement.' Flowery imagery or actual logic. As for helping people, millions of atheists love that movement.

No. Though I enjoy your sense of humor.

The Torah isn't a history, science or psychology book (though it has many of those elements). Rabbis have always approached Torah as p'shat (basic meaning) and drash (deeper meaning) and hence, there's incredible layers of meaning and mystical ideas behind the seemily "inconsistent" and incomprehensible portions of the Bible.

Yea no "evidence" with conviction ya fucking idiot... So Einstein, what was here before the fuckin "Big Bang" genius? ? ? You don't know, but you feel good about yourself with a shoulder shrug and a "Fuckn God doesnt exist"? You see the God Damned "back Ground radiation pictures from NASA" and throw it off as what? Nothing? I think if Jesus came down into your bedroom and gave you head you'd still not believe there was a God ya fuckin dumbass.
NASA/M.I.T and JPL are all wrong about the "Big Bang" and your fckn ass is right? Pffft... ? <insert the biggest lol in the Universe here> Night

If this thread reaches 100 pages, I feel certain the question of the existence of God will be settled once and for all, to the satisfaction of everyone. Then we can publish the results and we'll all get rich. Keep talkin'.

If it reaches 100 pages, it'll may indicate that folks enjoy talking about God more than they do creating music :?
