that was exactly the response i wanted to hear... why isn't it?
does Ableton have absolutely nothing to do with this feature at all? or did Gerhard lie to us when he made his quality announcement? those are your two options.. choose wisely!

So, it would seems like The Bridge will force significant changes to both Live and Serato, and introduce a whole new world of bugs

And they say, fixing existing bugs has not slowed down the development of this product one bit?!
"Quality" - I don't know what to think of now.. Just give me a build that handles the M4L union in a stable way and I will be happy. Right now, I feel like there will never be such a version.. The Bridge will be there first and new bugs a plenty..
Sorry if I'm jumping into conclusions, just been really disappointed lately about issues with M4L.. I'd appreciate any info that could clear this situation up for me.

I'm not sure if this has been covered yet, but...
I really love the mixtape idea but I'm not happy that you need a Serato compatible mixer for it to work properly. As Serato stands now with a standard mixer, there's no way for it to record EQs, volume faders, and effects that are coming out of the speakers-- so it kinda kill's the purpose of mixtape, doesn't it? Or is there something I'm missing?

Off topic question-- anyone know the brand of those stands? The one where the guy has a laptop over one turntable and an APC40 over another? I want one or two!

Sorry, I think I should have been more clear.
Of course, this product won't be released until it's stable. Gerhard's statement absolutely applies here, as it applies to everything we're doing now.
All I meant by my previous post is that you should not anticipate a massive delay.
Best,

It's not really possible to put a time on this. In fact, it's not about that. It's about getting things working the way they should be working. In the best possible world, the answer would be "yesterday." But the reality is, "as long as necessary."
Best,

Sorry if these have been asked before, but will the user be able to have vinyl control over more than one clip in Ableton at the same time on separate decks in Scratch Live? The demo implied that only one deck at a time could be used to control Ableton, with multiple clips in Ableton being controlled by a single deck.
And will features in Serato such as instant doubles be supported under Bridge and if so, will they still be able to use the shortcuts on the NS7 or TTM57?
How are effects handled, can Ableton or VST effects be utilized?
I think this feature looks very promising, I can't wait to try it, I'm not surprised that you still have to have the hardware, it's not like Serato are going to start giving Scratch Live away, plus an SL-1 should not set you back that much if you look hard enough.

You haters got to be be kidding me...
First off it's unbelievable that there are people asking if you can use this setup without serato's controller box. Really? Where have you guys been the last several years? Did you also know that DJs used something called records and played them on a turntable?
Second, why are the people that DONT have serato complaining about this. Like oh it's so expensive if you think about it. You knew it was a Ableton annnnnnndd SERATO collab so if youre on an Ableton forum and you didn't have serato, and weren't planning on getting it anyway, this project the two companies got going doesn't even concern you anyway does it?
Third, what's disappointing about it? So many people are like oh I expected more. More of what??? What were you looking for? Think outside the box for a second and think about what you can do with this.
The mixtape side speaks for itself. You can record fader control, EQ, gain, etc and tweak it later if need be? You can record your scratches in live.... A TWEAK THEM INSTANTLY. And then master the mix in live? You have a perfectly made mix, EQ'd and mastered without putting in too much work! I really dont know what more people expected from that...
And the other way is bananas.... This is creativity at its finest. On the fly mashups and remixing... IN-SYNC!!! Think about it, you you mix in, scratch in, etc an audio track with the serato technology, have it locked into the groove of ableton, and build up that deck with your loops in your session. You see that Ski-beats DJ video? Imaging what more you could do with that if you had vinyl control. And if you're a preforming type dj, you could have your scratch routine while you EQ individual ableton clips independently. There's so much you can do with this...
And as far as development time, IMO as an electrical engineer, to have two companies, two egos, get their IP sync together to create a demo in the time they did it is actually pretty damn good.

^^^ honestly, i think you are out of sync here, we live in a world of competing, therefor the product has to be better in EVERY single aspect.
there is a heavy concurrent around called Traktor, the collab has to beat it in every single aspect, that is what is expected and it's a good expectation.
(jeez... where is the spirit to not just do whatever product but to make a product you can squash every one else to death with?)
i think most of us are unhappy that the collab just adds something nice for serato users (no question about that!), but does not make a Traktor user want to switch immediately!
and that is what most of us expected. serato (on it's own) in comparison with traktor is already a joke in itself.
i am patiently waiting what will happen with the bridge in the future, and i honestly hope (and i think it's the hope of many / most) that it will allow me at some point to leave traktor, until then it is a bit disappointing.
