In the UK Catholics are a minority, and many of those baptized as such don't give a fig and certainly don't go to Church, unless they are getting married or having a baby Christened, then they miraculously return to the fold for a few months before jacking it in again. There are probably many more Muslims in the UK.

I'm sure Moore has plenty of good legal protection, otherwise he'd be in court every day of his life - but who can protect him from swimming with the fishes if you know what I mean ?

This is true cos we burned most of them after Henry VIII told the pope to fuck off, the remainder all have sore bottoms.

Yeah, but then we got a bunch of Irish (including my paternal grandfather and his ancestors) after the potato famines, especially in Liverpool, Manchester and Kilburn (London) and their descendents. And in the town I lived in for many years as a youngster, a sizeable Italian community also. So in the town I grew up in, there were 3 Catholic churches, 3 Catholic elementary schools and one large Catholic high school, in a town of 55,000 people. Until I was about 11 years old, it was a sizeable minority but was quickly overtaken (in just a few years) by the South Asian minority who came into town and were mostly Muslim.

This is being mirrored here in Canada, where Catholicism is still noted as the majority religion, but where massive immigration from South Asia (mostly Sikh where I live) is changing the demographic significantly.

Methodism is the main sect up here, even C of E doesn't get much of a look in.

thats what I meant here:

If someone actually does knock him off it will draw even more attention to his work... the last thing said party would want to do is watch some actor in a fat suit with a fake hook nose re-visit their dirty little mistakes in 10-20 years when the movie about his life and tragic demise hits the big screen.

attention would be the cause and the effect. it doesn't seem wise.
