I always thought that the electronic music scene was a genre without rules.

Want to use a loop use a loop, If you want to sample an individual snare hit do it, want to play it live then do it.

Many artists have taken riffs and used them as a basis of a song even before sampling, Oasis virtually sampled the Beatles entire back catalogue and made a career out of it.

Have you seen the de-construction of The Prodigys smack my bitch up, even though its virtually all samples I think its a work of genius.

I thought as this forum was an Ableton (which is a piece of software by its very design used to work with audio as clips be it sampled or not) forum, it may be a little more accommodating.

But the self righteous on this forum who's own output is not exactly ground breaking seem to be the guardians of what can and cannot be done. Its like I have stumbled on some elitist group of real ale enthusiasts moaning about the youth of today and how in my day they would have had to spend 8hrs programming a snare on a modular synth.

Wow lol. Threads like this remind me why I practice acoustic instruments every day.
But seriously, I do see valid points from both sides and I agree that loop packs can kill certain genres.
On the other hand, sampling is an art in itself and if you can take a loop and turn it in to something completely original then that is awesome.
One point that I would make about these loop packs, however, is that they are in themselves another outlet for talented producers to make a living. I love seeing dedicated artists being rewarded for their work.
The coolest thing about this debate is that I can see that many of you are very passionate about your craft.

sure somebody gives a fuck..all the dj´s that have to check all this rubish,the poor audience that suffers form incompetent dj´s that might play that shit.. all little labels that cant sell resonable amounts of the good stuff anymore..
And the distributions that collaps when the audience suddenly wakes up and dont buys a single copy of the 1000 fakes catalog anymore from one day to the other. late but suddenly the audience allways realizes whats is going on..and they dont like to be cheated
