Re: Logic Pro X

i love apple updates,logic X,automaps.
Strange you did not have this issue with 9. Anyway, I don't remember well, because I threw away automap and novation + logic years ago, since it is a known unresolved issue (because of ridiculous Apple's AU policy). Automap works with every daw out there but Logic. The problem is not automap, but Logic (well... Apple, actually). The "solution" you suggest works only once, with sessions opened. Once you switch off the mac and switch it on again, open Logic and the problem is still there. Maybe Logic X will be different, but I doubt, since Logic is a great daw, but full of bugs and limitations.beats me wrote:myrnova wrote:there is nothing to do, alas. Try acting in the environment, but I doubt it will work. I remember they had a solution (downloading via novation forum or smth) for logic9, but did not work. The best solution is: uninstall automap, or change daw.
Strange I didn’t have this problem with 9 but do with X. Sounds like something Apple needs to fix with an update. Can I just toss the offending automap plugins (it does make duplicates of plugs that aren’t automap, right?) or can tell the automap software to not start on its own anytime I launch a DAW?

+1. That and a uad2 octo card or two and your mixing as well as pro tools hdx, at least for most serious home studios. On the composing tip, I've immediately banged out some decent material. Apple must have hired everybody to throw in on how to make it all universal and obvious. it's like they read all the good producer's minds... and then they made Logic X... they read the best producer's minds to make Pro Tools.
I am sorry, because I can see "CA" and I know you (californians) are very proud of Apple, but lately working with pc seems to be easier and better, alas. The mac was a necessary choice years ago for audio and digital music. Nowadays if you choose mac you must be aware of the fact you will have issues, being a closed system, expensive and with much less flexibility, choices and freedom than pc (they decide everything for you, see the useless "AU", no automap, etc.). I am very disappointed about Apple (using Apple products since 1997). And about Logic X, too.beats me wrote:myrnova wrote:Strange you did not have this issue with 9. Well shit. And since Apple just added Smart Controls, they’re version of automap, I bet they are even less interested in playing nice with Novation.
In other user experience, it looks like when you add Logic’s instruments it also adds bus tracks tied to that sound with effects and if you replace that sound with another plugin it looks like it still leaves the bus tracks there. Not sure if it did that in previous versions but I know it left the effects in place when you changed the instrument plugin.

So, my advise: avoid automap (novation) if you want to go on using Logic (infact "they" give you the "fantastic" ipad controller for "free") OR change daw.

I have been using nothing but Apple computers since I was a kid playing King's Quest on my Apple IIe.

In my undergraduate I had a Performa 410 with OS… shit I can't remember. It was before they put the numbers in the OS name.
That was right after I started making music with computers (remember Pro Tools Free for OS 9?), so it wasn't as bad for me as it was for some.beats me wrote:But those late OS 9/early OS 10 days were painful.
