Hi all, I'm looking for guidance on how to achieve a specificw workflow for live performances using Push 3 Standalone with a Tascam Model 12 mixer.
Essentially, I want to use the P3S in the same way I use my MPC Live 2, which is to route up to 8 channels/outputs to an interface and come out of the interface with 8 analog outputs into the Tascam Model 12. With my MPC, I set it in "audio interface mode," which allows for 32 I/Os via USB, and connect it to the Behringer UMC1820. Then, I use the analog line outs from the UMC1820 to connect to the Model 12 channels. This works perfectly.
With all the research I've done, though, it seems the UMC1820 cannot work as a bridge in this way with the P3S since the latter depends on ADAT to expand the number of I/Os (and not USB like the MPC), which cannot be routed properly, at least when it is in Standalone mode.
So, my questions are:
1) Is it indeed correct that there is no practical way for the UMC1820 to achieve this, even if I only needed to establish the routing once (with my laptop and software if that's even possible)?
2) Is it correct that the ADA8200 would work for my purpose? It seems like it would, based on my research, but I've also seen mixed feedback, including reports of noisy outputs.
3) Are there any other "value-based" options I should consider? Again, this intended workflow is only to be used in conjunction with a mixer and no analog gear for the single purpose of live "DJ-like" performing (and, importantly, without a computer). Therefore, I'm trying to keep things relatively cheap since I only need something that will achieve my singular need here: converting up to 8 channels from P3S to discrete analog channels running into the Model 12.
Most of the related discussions have been focused on input expansion, but in my case, I'm only concerned with the output side of things (e.g., I don't care about the quality or number of analog inputs).
Many thanks in advance for any advice.![]()
