But surely the first step then is to allow for that diversity and creativity to be unleashed, and allow things like hotkey assignments, custom menus, and modular UIs.
Ableton have done a fantastic job of designing a UI that doesnt try and please everyone, which is obviously a big call but has made it stand out. But I think this needs to be combined with the ability to open up some more complex actions.
I have spent the last few years getting into the Logic groove. In that time I have probably made use of about 25% of all shortcuts. Not needed, not exactly. Because its better to have them there than find they aren't supported.
I have loved the simplicity of Ableton so far, it has been a joy. But I wish there were just a few more options available.
