Ok well the poll is useless, but your post right under it is good. What has happened between that and your first post to me? Which are you. I'm with you on the url post, but your not with me on the thread. Why?

Kranky,
Try running an amount of tracks and plugins that your cpu can handle.
again, there is a difference between fidelity and cpu limitation.
You say i have left questions unanswered and brushed off people who asked me them? Specifically what questions? Please ask me or point me to the place in this thread where they occur. The only person i brushed off in this thread was mercy please. He didn't ask me any questions, he just insulted me. And the other fellow who said that live somehow had sub-par audio quality. That's just silly and we've had that discussion in about a billion other threads already.
Maybe i am confused. Is part of your complaint about Live's audio quality? (not talking about glitching here, talking about when you are within the amount of tracks and plugins that you can run)
but let's go over this again from this angle.
First i need to know what you mean by elementary amount. I've already told you what i can do on my g4 laptop. Your g5 should be able to handle quite a bit more than that. The number you threw out there before was 32+ tracks with plugins. I'd have to say that i think that is more than elementary (def. - easy and not involved or complicated). Elementary is more like 8 tracks.
Most users have glitches under regular cpu load? How have you come to this conclusion?
Sure, that's an easy one. What i mean by that is simple. I mean that the program runs without flaws as long as you don't ask it to do more than your cpu can handle. I've never had problems until the cpu meter on live has gone over around 75%. That is why I make an effort to keep my projects in live as far under that as possible.

If you think that live is lacking basic digital fidelity, you are mistaken.I,m fine that Live is not a pro mixdown app, though in the near future that would be nice. And I don't need time savers, I need basic digital audio fidelity. I have stated my priorities, you've had my answer more than twice.

I've read and responded to all of your posts. The last time you said, "it doesn't matter where the glitching comes from" I responded to you by explaining that indeed it does matter. If the application can handle x # of tracks of audio and plugins with perfect quality but not n# more tracks, this means there is a limitation on how far you can go based on cpu or disk. That is different that the app being unreliable or broken. You don't want any more features? Are you sure? Because i would guess that you would be very happy if live could handle more tracks and plug ins in a session flawlessly, just like it can now if you keep them to an amount that your cpu can handle. For me, with my puny g4 laptop, it seems to be about 15 tracks, some audio, some virtual instruments, plug ins sprinkled thoughout. Can your system handle that kind of load? If not, perhaps you should post in "bugs and problems" or speak to ableton support.I'm not concerned about the "differences" between cpu efficiency and unreliability and I certainly don't want more feature especially in leu of simple audio. We have been over this. I won't address this again with you. simply reread my earlier posts.
Please elaborate, i don't quite understand what you are saying here. You are having a problem finishing your commissiond beat? I don't have a problem finishing any project from start to finish in live as long as i stay within the cpu limits. I usually have to print effects and virtual instruments to track to stay within those limits. I use the "live clips" function to be able to recall the original tracks wtih plugins if i need to change them.also compose, play a few instruments and bang beats. I'm programing a beat right now that is a commissioned job. Where is the audio just for that? Again, not mixing in Live right now is fine and I'm willing to not care about that right now. It's done, you can have it, case closed.
It's not that i was unsatisfied with your answers, it was that i was unsatisfied by having them answered with an insult first, and a complete brush off second. Before I address your previous post you requested, you need to be aware that simply holding me to your questions because you are not satisfied with my answers is not my problem because you are unsatisfied. You yourself have left plenty of unanswered questions and untrue statements. Nobody is chasing you around to make you accountable for all that. Some tried, but you lost your cool and brushed them off.

I've already covered the first part of this earlier in this post.Call it whatever load you want. Live will not handle an elementary amount of audio files required for a session. Ok, so you don't have glitches? I'm happy for you. Most have them. That's because i'm not talking about "session load."
I'm talking only about cpu load.
but let's go over this again from this angle.

Ok, so now you're saying that you experience cpu spikes? Why don't you post in that thread? I'm not goiing to read that whole thread right now. if you would like, we can discuss it later. You don't need to complain just to me, the thread below will explain things. Go through this thread, and satisfy yourself with the findings. Just listen to the hard working professional users who still cannot have a one single pleasant hour. There are many other threads for you to spread your wings.

May I request that you answer to that statement for us. What is Live exactly suppose to do up unto a certain cpu threshold? Please explain. Use any threshold you like. Please give us a response to that. The program does exactly what it's supposed to do up unto a certain cpu threshold.

Then why would you say that an app that can handle at least 15 tracks (a low number for your computer) unreliable because you believe that more tracks are needed for a session?Correct, I wouldn't say that. You wouldn't say a 24 track 2" machine was unstable or unreliable because you believed that a regular session required 32 tracks.

Most of the problems that you had in that post were cleared up, right?
very good point about streaming from disk. Since most programs dont try to let you do so much without stopping playback live is a bigger resource hog for sure.

yeah i spent some time talking to a few tech support guys at ableton and of course talking to our friends who have now made their way into tech support without much luck.
eventually i turned off hyperthreading and since then i have not had a single glitch in Live...

Hmmm, well mr Lsrmfn, you are not feeling me or the many many others that you are not helping right now. You have a strange relation with conversational context that does not become you. You are all about circles of contradiction and your point is to not reach a conclusion at all but to reduce understanding by trying to place conjecture on equal terms with fact. I cannot engage with you anymore. My best has been given.
Go ahead, keep doing what you're doing. But understand you are letting down many outstanding advocates of Live. You may not know it now, but you are helping the owners of the Ableton company to move away from their own fiduciary responsibilities and move their financial liabilities to us end users. This is very very bad. And now we are paying them big money for us to make the software to make them a lot more money. Yeah, a few are laughing all the way to the bank. They are genius's for sure.
Don't you see, they've turned a release into beta and beta into a release.
That just saddens me.Lsrmfn wrote;

Knot-
sorry it took me so long to respond, i was at my therapist resolving issues about pro's pointing how people who arent just arent in the know.
knot-its all black and white apparently and if we arent with you we are against you. wanting the program to be better just isnt good enough for you. apparently we need past releases to be better so lets boot up our time travel machines!
never went to Berlin. never veil my comments that thin. agree with the other dudes you are just trolling now so peesh and see you at NAMM.
ps- hope you get to work with Jon Brion!

true, being a pro does NOT lower others who are not, but YOU do when you say things like your first post-I never said that and your implication is extremely disingenuous and rotten. Being a professional music dude does not lower others who are not.
there was no implication. i was flat out saying that your posts were insulting across the board and im sure others will agree. it aint my issue how you choose to phrase things.Ok so, Live is already a rock for a lot of you. But from the ones who know that's not true, 6 better be a rock. I want 6 to be tight. You pro's know what i'm talking about. Live apologists; you're out numbered. Ableton; get it together. Your app is damn cool.

No worries mate, Understand I am trying to be provocative and hard nosed for a reason. i am only trying to help this program and us users from a different angle and not from the orderly fashion some people would want. Thanx bro.
