Those are just off the top of my head.
Old chicago house, detroit techno, old italo disco, old funk, King Tubby-era dub etc etc, 80s electro....
People who moan about not being able to find music need to try harder. It's imposssible to be aware of all of it so digging that bit deeper always reveals something.
I tend to find electronic music too... ummm... electronic!
There's something about the organic real sound of fret noise and sweaty hands poppin' an E-string, rather than some cold oscillator, or the rattle of a real snare that sounds different every time it's hit, rather than some exactly-the-same white-noise-simulated-snare-kinda-sound. Ho hum... {yawn}...
I'd rather feel the bass player and drummer that know when to push or lag and lock together, rather than the metronomic perfection of electrons and their perfectly quantized tempo and timing.
I realize all electronic music isn't like this. I need to dig a bit more...
That's just me, though. It's a good thing we're all different!

Fair enough. You should try some real disco (I don't mean chart stuff) electronic and organic in one.hambone1 wrote: That's just me, though. It's a good thing we're all different!
Somaething that Larry Levan touched like this.
It might be to your taste I dunno.

I'm totally with you, fellow bass player!!! The best thing I can imagine in the vein of what you are searching for are the "Verve: Remixed" cds, where modern "dance" (for lack of a better term) producers remix songs from the verve vaults--willie bobo, sarah vaughn, billie holiday--it is some good stuff. Volume I (they're up to 3 now) is the best for me.hambone1 wrote:I tend to find electronic music too... ummm... electronic!

Also, though it might not fall into any EDM genre, Dzihan and Kamien from Austria are some great artists/producers--check out Gran Riserva or their new live disc with a big ol' band--awesome stuff, totally what you want--live everything (bass, drums, keys, guitar, strings, percussion, vocals) and it kicks ass.
Also, Luke Vibert is one of my favorites these days, especially his Wagon Christ stuff. Again, not sure what catagorization if any he would fall into, but the WC album "Musipal" is great--really interesting production, very "live" sounding instrumentation and playing.
Also, though maybe more hip hop or IDM than EDM (I hate pigeonhole terms as much as these artists do), Bonobo, Jazzanova, Ratatat, Blockhead, Four Tet, and Prefuse 73 are all really intersting "electronic" artists that incorporate a fair amount of live instruments into their stuff. You will probably not find a four on the floor kick on anything I've mentioned except for the Verve remixes. Hope this helps!

mah..I love tech-based genres since I had 13 years (17 years ago) and for one decade I listened this kind of music only.djsentinel wrote:This topic is here to explore why people here at this forum don't like EDM, trance as the most hated. And please give legit reasons. No "its too repetitive or I don't like it."
This is sure to be fun
