I hope you come home safely. Though I may disagree with some of your opinions, but my respect for living what you believe. Specially that unlike most of people who land there at least you bothered to do some search, study before taking this decision.
Regarding the monetary side, people be real, how many like Breqs are there? Having ideological reasons, then honestly admitting that money is good too.
All those patriots are only on TV. Here around Frankfurt are few of US bases and I meet these people everyday. Majority are not US citizens, joined just to get the citizenship for themselves and families- Nigerians, Keniyans, Kamerunians, Jamaicans, Mexicans, Dominicanos, from all over South America even from Cuba- which officially is terrorist country.
Then the ghetto crowd, the talk is - you couldn't make it in sports or rap, not even as pimp or drug dealer- you join the army. Some did deal or whatever and got caught, given option to join the army instead of going to prison. Those typical white folks from Montana or whatever, church going, patriotic families are rare ( probably they join marines or rangers) or total intellectually challanged, like that women - English or whatever her name.
US citizens or not they joined for lack of better options, most have no idea where Iraq is, less how it is pronounced. They do what they have to,it is just a job, they love to go to clubs, enjoy life as they can, mostly never want to go back to States, even less to any war. Some need money badly or like my MC, want to buy a Porsche, so they volunteer to Iraq.
So M.Breqs stay out of trouble as you can, remember that izzat is the most imoprtant word you have to learn and understand there, and above all I hope you will find out for yourself that the whole matter is much more complex then presented in the Western medias.

Grant, whose nine-month tour of duty as commander of Canadian forces in Kandahar is only days from ending, was not hurt in the attack. Nor were any other Canadian soldiers.

1:
i'm not sure if this post is true.
2:
if you go, go because you want to help and building up something.
3:
if you just go because of money, you are simply crazy.
4:
read about experiences of (ex) employee of your employer in the net.

Ignorance is a worldwide plague. It's easy enough to do that in any country in the world and selectively edit out the intelligent and/or correct responses.

It proves nothing.

There ARE some hilarious answers there, though!

It doesn't prove anything.

All it takes is to question to cross-section of people, and use the most ignorant responses.

Ignorance isn't new!

This is true!

It DOES remind me why I choose not to live in the good ole U S of A any more, although ignorance is just as rife here in the UK.
