To be clear, I (try to) hate no one. However human nature is real. No collective reality? Tell that to the people in darfur. People hate. And usually the attempts to surpress that hate only make things worse.

What is intolerance? In this instance, Intolerance is not allowing others to pursue their beliefs without oppression.
So, Fallwell had certain beliefs. He tried to use political pressure to stop people from doing what he disliked, for example certain public funded art (the whole National Endowment for the Arts protest and such).

Imus and Falwell can believe and say whatever they want. But when one has the airwaves and the subsequent power to promote their own little individual intolerant views, then they will be knocked down by those oppressed by it. That's a good thing.
Ah but wait. You seem to applaud exactly what Fallwell did - using political pressure to stop something you do not believe in.
It sounds to me like you have no problem with intolerance - as long as it is you who decides what should be tolerated.
If you side with those wanting Imus removed then you have decided that you should have the power to decide what 3.25 million people may and may not listen to (his audience size according to google). You could simply not tune in. However for many (Fallwell and perhaps yourself) ignoring what you do not like is not good enough. You want to prevent others from doing it as well.
Don't get me wrong - you and I are probably very similiar. I hate (err.. dislike) all those silly radio programs (shock jocks). I have no room for that bullshit in my life. But I cannot allow myself to start forcing others to believe how I believe.
Oh well. I'm tired of fighting. Peace brother.
