or late Coletrane??? yeah. i did it, baby.
At anyrate, what the fuck do you think people who weren't on the inside said about your beloved Detroit techno when it came out? Maybe something like " i can't handle this repetetive kik drum with sqounking synth noise on top, it's not music" The response from someone on the inside might be "you don't get it."
whatever. we all know what you're about now, Dr X, and it's pretty boring. congratulations on getting old.

The first sentence is sarcasm friend and NO music is NOT in the "eye" of the beholder, it's in their ear. So there!koekzopie wrote:If you would take your own first statement seriously, why do you make that ridiculously generalizing second one? Ah so its sarcasm! So YOU are the one that knows (or hears) all? You're stretching because simply put you really don't have a point with your criticism at all. Pretty much ALL electronic music costs more than $70, your point is moot. Real Breakcore groups use very little outside ReNoise, but I don't really feel that compelled to argue it, your origional point dies by simply adding ANY genere into it, IE "Bring back Disco. IT BLOWS AWAY BIG BEAT. The Techno stuff is just ridiculous. So tough to listen to. It just sounds like a bunch add rich kids with too much time on their hands."
Incidentally Detroit is what is copied when it comes to Techno of pretty much any type, NOT the ones doing the copying.
The poster that wrote the comment is employing complete ignorance to the reality of musical history. Both now, and when Techno was created here. Period.
Right Techno is the basis of all electronic music!
This is just silly, not worth delving into but suffice to say, you don't know music history very well. Electronic music, and techno even were around before Detroit got into it. Kraftwerk for one were considered 'techno' when I was a kid, and the 'techno' from Detroit was considered, and is still considered Detroit Techno. Go back to music history class, and stop being so obviously provincial.
To me your music taste sucks, no wonder you would think that.Autechre is boring as heck. Just about as creative and musically REAL as nerds can be i guess. No groove, no melody, just squeaks n bleeps with a little elonGATED BS thrown in to break up the manotony.
I agree you have a right to your own opinion, your ridiculous hypothesizing to back it up is all I question. The kids part of "rich kids" was a statement that holds true throughout the entirety of extreme music genres or fringe clique related "scenes". What was it the one poster said about "scenesters"? What the hell are scenesters anyhow? Are they the people NOT living in their bedroom at 40? LOL! Too much. Anyhow, the "kids" part of "rich kids" represents a real lack of musical experience. So they pretend they are being genuine by making up stuff that just harsh and rediculously fast in predictable ADD fashion. It's all in good fun and everyone knows that art is subjective so who has the right to criticisize it, right?

Where to start? EVERY form of music that is now considered legitimate went through a period of time where people, usually older people, thought it was not musical etc.
Here's a short list:
Rock and Roll,
Heavy Metal,
Jazz,
Punk,
industrial,
Big Band,
Ambient,
AND
Electronmic Music in all it's forms.
I know old people that hate all electronic music, they think it's cold, robotic, and lifeless, or made by people with too much money, and not connected to the audience etc. like rock music.
Seriously congratulations in adapting your parents lack of taste for experimentalism in music, have a nice time creating tracks that sound like everybody else's.
Just to add to this, Autechre are musically trained, so the group in particular you hate on here fails to pass your hypothetical conclusion.

actually your pretentiousness (little king related) I enjoy LEARNING here, but yeah, useless shit like talking about lame electronic groups kind of inspires me to speak my mind. @ the Dr.
yeah, well, it would help if your arguments made any sense at all or if you could at least insult us with some sharp and inventive wit. You're not doing too well.
Besides, If autechre's music is so easy that "anyone with a basic knowledge of VST" (I'm still not sure what the fuck you're talking about there) could do it, why don't you get busy and show us your faux autechre master pieces. I'll bet you consider your "knowledge of VST" to be well above basic, so go ahead, toss up a track or two and lets see how close it comes.
unleash the badgers.

Seriously I went to the Detroit Techno School of VST Knowledge to learn my shit, and it is serious power levels higher than your VST!

Ha! Admit it, you haven't liked any new musical style that isn't directly emulating bands from 20 years ago.popslut wrote:Autechre are shit.
I just realised this thread has got to 10 pages and I've been meaning to post that since page 2.
I personally don't post in DJ threads because I don't like the genre (EDM) enough to judge what's a good DJ, that's all.

You need to get over yourself. Everything you just wrote along with 4.00 will buy you a fine cup of coffee at your local Starbucks. Get a life. One that includes something other than sitting around in some cubical wasting your time insulting your own intelligence. You got no point other than the one you wear your hat on. I don't care about changing your mind in the least.Machinesworking wrote:DrXparaMental wrote:I think you get my point about ReNoise. 70.00 for one program don't mean shit in the face of the equipment it resides within and the programs along side of it. If Autechre were actually "musically trained" they should have probably been plumbers. There is just NOTHING there. I own 4 or 5 of their CDs. You know what a CD is right? That's those things old dudes buy to support artists instead of downloading crap. I can't even make it though one song let alone a whole disc. Just lame. Period.
