well that could be feasible - like accessing functions in the routing drop down menus

where did this info come from?

I am just curious if any of that list is accurate. I personally thought it was exciting!

Im gonna answer simply... Until I hit a wall and think 'I cant do what I want without X, which _is_ in live8', Im more than satisfied with the copy of 7 I bought a few months ago. Hell, Im still only scratching the surface of what I can do with Operator, so I'd rather get to know what I have than wonder what else I _could_ have in the future..

Ok now I'm getting impatient.
And I've got extra cash right now, which I really don't want to spend on T-Shirts, beer and poker.

Wheres Live 8?

I need Live 8 to save me from myself.

All I want is a tear away piano roll like Reason does with it's sequencer, and/or the ability to have the Session and arrangement views open on two screens.
Pretty please! 8O
Seriously I would probably never work in another DAW if that happened.

maybe they gave up on it cause this thread says "we aren't anticipating it" ?

all those things are great, but due to the things I mentioned they are actually way more complicated to use

you havent yet encountered the sea of faders or ocean of grey?

m,aybe you dont use many tracks, but I'm finding working in any decent sized project really hard to see what's going on

multi-lane automation doesn't help that at all - in fact I find it way too hard to even use - for me it's much easier to click on the knob I want to edit then have it appear

if you could right click> show all automation for device it would be way more usable, but just getting everything that you want to look at showing is not at all straight forward - you either have to show everything on the entire track, or go through and tediously show them one by one

there are still moments I sit down and feel really inspired about the new features, but most of the time it gets quickly overshadowed by just how much harder the workflow and visual side of things has become

the fact that I am still having to go through and delete all the useless automation, and automation is still such a PITA to work with is really shitty IMO - that should have been fixed well before we got multiple lanes of the shittiness
+1

I still don't understand why they haven't included Crossfading Audio Clips when editing audio in the same lane!

It's not only a standard in every other DAW, but I use it All the time in Logic (o_0).

Corssfading Audio in 8 please!

Because then each track has to be able to play back two audio files simultaneously. How does one just add this "standard" feature to an existing program? Fuck knows, but I doubt it's easy. Maybe with group tracks, you could do it, but it might not be pretty.

The way it was in Logic (don't know if they changed it) was that if you overlapped audio and adjusted crossfade curves a new file for the crossfaded section would be calculated and sit between the 2 clip kinda like consolidating a small selection. That way the number of voices stays the same.

...still...it's a handy feature... and pretty standard (PT,Cubase/Wavelab,Reaper,Samplitude,Soundforge/Vegas, have it)

...and yes... from a programming prespective
a channel that has these crossfaded clips in the arrangement...
will have to turn into 2 audio channels with volume automation ..
sounds pretty simple actually....right click to choose the curve...
sounds pretty sweet to me...
(though only internally/behind the scenes)

Edit: Misread what you said. OK, possibly. Didn't realise that's what happened. Sounds very heavy on the file sizes though. And destructive editing isn't exactly Ableton's thing.
