It's all about tea. Tea rules everything. I know black tea has a lot of caffeine too, but it's a mellower buzz. I love loose black tea. I always liked it, but at one point I went to Iceland and the people I hung out with there got me hooked.
+1 I've been hooked on Tea for a few years now. A good Loose leaf Earl Grey is the best. I love getting up early Sunday morning, having a few teas while i load up Ableton!

ethios4 wrote:The problem with coffee (in my experience) is that, like all drugs, if you come to rely on it you're in for trouble. If I drink coffee every day it gets to where I feel about as good as I did without coffee, and if I don't have it I can hardly make it through a day. So I use coffee for occasional bursts of energy or at the end of the day if I need a boost.

Tea is really nice....earl gray is my favorite. Yerba mate is a good coffee alternative for some people.

Coffee is also a diuretic, so be sure to stay hydrated.

Oh, and nothings better than that good ole coffee pot speedball high! ;)

Caffeine poisoning it possible.

"Excessive intake of caffeine can lead to a fast heart rate, excessive urination, nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, restlessness, anxiety, depression, tremors, irregular heartbeat, flushed face, rambling talk and thinking, and difficulty sleeping."

http://www.psychologytoday.com/conditions/caffeine.html

Incidentally, have I told you I've been very depressed about my sudden diarrhea recently? It's making me very anxious, and then there is all this election stuff, I can barely keep my mind on it. My dog had diarrhea last night, too, that was awful, had to put the rug outside. I wonder if a rug will be ruined if it rains. That would be an easy way to wash though, don't you think? My sister had a dog that liked to sleep on a particular rug, it wsa similar to this rug that I'm talking about. What was that dog's name... the one that liked the rug... my sister would remember. Is he still alive? anyway gotta go.

OP - you're probly getting more of a sugar high from a large Mocha than any real caffeine hit. I've worked in many great cafes in my time, and there's usually only one shot of espresso in a Mocha. I could be wrong though - I dunno who your dealer is :)

My favourite coffee is undoubtedly the antipodean Flat White ( I lived in Wellington, NZ for a few years and they really know how to make coffee there).

A FW is two shots of espresso with just a little steamed (not foamed) milk, served in a small-ish cup....it should be as smooth as silk - no fuckn bubbles - and just hot enough to be drunk immediately.

These days I'm back in Blighty, so tend to favour tea. It is a much milder buzz, although studies have shown that there is often more caffeine in tea than coffee. I dunno - but I can happily down endless tea without getting clenched teeth, etc.

Actually, my studio buddy and I wondered how much of a difference drinking tea vs. coffee in British studios has over the way the music sounds :)

He's worked in the U.S and has found that you guys mostly drink coffee all day long instead of tea.

I have enjoyed all the comments on the current subject, but I'm holding out to form an opinion on caffeine until Robert Henke adds a comment. :)

He's had all kinds of appearances here on the forum lately, maybe he knows as much about the coffee bean as he does about waveforms and circuits.

no red bull!

coffee is fine just stay well clear of red bull and similar drinks.. they make u crazy!! i got addicted to red bull when i was younger.. shops should not shell that stuff to kids! tho for people who have been VERY busy like on tour i think a red bull can sort u out. i am only gonna have a red bull if iv been busy to a great extent and need to go on. i do believe if u have a coffee for the first time in a while it can have a stronger effect. i cant believe people drink red bull with vodka.. they are totally opposite taking u down in one part of your mind and speeding you up in others.

I was consistently drinking a couple of those huge Starb&%k's coffees a day over a period of a few weeks while at work. Then on my days off without coffee, I'd get a terrible migrane and feel like shit.
Related or not who knows.

ya people tell me they get side effects when they boycott coffee. The only time i have had bad experience with coffee is when i have had it late at night and i felt weird and faint.
