I guess what we mean and what we say doesn't always gel.
but why use a pirate copy? why not just an old copy from ableton?

Do you actually read what you are answering to? I never wrote anything about stealing, I wrote about alternative suppliers.

It wasn't really hard to understand the original intend of Kyleklip, he just wants to have a copy of an older version after an update of the software he paid for broke a function. And for the "why download a pirate copy"? Because Ableton doesn't provide any link nor informations on how to obtain old versions, GDMT!

How can a software company expect their latest version to be so flawless as to omit any link to older versions? Ableton is not even close to providing such a good and trustworthy codebase. And the troublesome part about it is that they seem to think otherwise.

It's cool that you know about the URL thingy, but most common users don't. Not everyone is a forum bitch and thus knows about every dirty secret of Ableton's website. You could just have read the original post with more sympathy for other users instead of playing the shiney knight for Ableton aka: You could just have told him about the URL, mention that Pirates are bad bad people and leave it be.

And even if Kyleklip had asked others to download cracks and use those instead of buying the product. What earthshaking movement would that have resulted in? Yeah, sure, Ableton would have gone bancrupty just a day later, for sure! Holy Elvis...

hmm, forum bitch hey?
somebody somewhere said not to call people names on a forum

especially when you can click on these little Profile buttons beneath and look at the "posts per day" count. Interesting.
BTW , in English "bitching" is complaining. Someone who complains a lot.

now I'm off to get a TV off an "alternative supplier" because mine doesn't work too well. I'm sure you approve

Kisses !

By forum bitch I mean us uberregular users compared to the normal users who only come here for a quick help.

Your comparison is still lame. Kyleklip neither stole anything nor did he ask others to steal. He proclaimed to look for a copy of what he already paid for from the most convinient source and asked others to do so, too.

He likely did so out of frustration because a) the manufacturer of the software does not provide that service eventhough one could expect that (given the nature of software-updates) and b) the latest and only officially available Installation download breaks a feature he regulary uses.

But maybe you want to sue him now for theft and incendiarism? :?

You misunderstood the request of Kyleklip. He doesn't need Live 5, 4 or 3, he needs old versions of Live 7 (7.0.9, 7.0.7 etc). I may have missed something, but I don't find no links to these on the website you pointed to.
