This is extremely phallic and this track should sound incredibly sexy.
The reason this is phallic is that this is a life-sized replica of my genitals.
Including the one testicle that's kind of rolled off into the surrounding countryside!??
That's the mutant testy that shot off the lucky sperm which spawned this handsome daredevil:

I find reverb extremely important since some time and always have one sitting in a return track by default.
You might not want it when recording instruments in real rooms, but when using only sounds that are pure clean samples or synthesis it's a must. Unless you aim for a very uni-dimesnional abstract and clean electronic sound.
I would love to find a tutorial about using reverb as I am quite clueless and just tweak it a little until I like it. But I am wanting to learn.
Nebulae, I'll send you a pm.

I use enough reverb so that everything turns into a constant loud hum. I get everything the way I want it, and I place shards of high pitched feedback into the mix with a slight bit of ducking.
I mix it all down and compress the wave file so all I see is the blackness of the peaks being crushed ever so violently.
My reverb skills make a hallway sound like another hallway killing its self in another hallway.
Nothing will survive my reverb ..nothing will!

If one is up front and the other sounds farther away, they are both heard but not stepping on each other in the same spectral space. It makes some sounds easier to define in a mix and are usually room verbs. There is no answer to "how much"
+1
Also i tend to use in most cases just one on a bus to keep things "tight"

I like that.

When we were in that radarstation, my own spoken word sounded like it was coming from outside of me. Really weird in there.

Yes I´ve read about that too, or at least he wanted to. I think he wants to make an art school out of it.

reverb can also be a effect *on its own*
try an easy automation with the ableton reverb.
increase the room size while decreasing the decay time.
yeah, its boomy, but its supposed to be.
there are several possibilities to use reverb in a very creative (and uncommon) way.
so +1 for the only rule is that there are no rules,

A lot of good points stated above. I normally only use a single instance of reverb as a send/return effect, adjusting send levels to alter the depth position of individual tracks/instruments. Using one setting or IR like this also brings the elusive glue that puts all your tracks/instruments in a single space. The old rule of thumb that you bring up the send on a track until you notice the space, then back it off a bit works well. Even in a mix where you don't want obvious reverb or a big space, a tight ambience of say .5 to 1.5 seconds can work wonders to make everything gel.
If I use any reverb on bass or kick drum it would be just a touch.
Remember if you're using reverb as a send/return effect the reverb wet/dry mix should be set to 100% wet, whereas when you use it as an insert effect wet/dry should be perhaps around 50% wet.

Grappadura wrote:Thx guys, thats enlightning. Do you regularly add reverb to the kick drum as well?
Try a very short filtered/gated reverb on the kick, sometimes that sounds very nice.
But as you probably wanted to point out, I never use my main reverb on the kick. Reason: The kick is in the front of the room (in my imagination and that is also what most people expect).

I´ve listened to your songs and noticed that you are a master of reverberation

, I actually wondered if you were going to post about it. Could you tell me what reverb and what settings do you normally use?

God I love reverb. I've got my panties in a bunch over the UAD Plate reverb. I love Space Designer in Logic, Reaktor's Space Master 2 for effects, Speakerphone for serious delicious sounds, and I'm dying to get Altiverb as well.
I apologize for not having any tips, I just flavor to taste and wanted to express my love of reverb. Love the tips everybody, thanks.
