I would think some of the DAW features would carry over into making a good Live host.kuniklo wrote:I don't care about DAW features. Make Live a good Live host. Fix the session view automation recording thing.
Improving auto quantize functionality, would help both Live and DAW folks.
Session View automation, and improving automation in general would help both people as well

Seriusly must have these in the next version! They are 2 of the biggest issues I have with Ableton Live at the moment.....apart from this problem:DBM wrote:
3. Integrated step sequencer
But instead of this being a plugin it should be a view choice in the midi editor view :
Piano roll (command+s+1) ; default view
Step (command+s+2) ; x0x0x view -808 ,909, 303 etc. (with accent and slide ! )
CV (command+s+3) ; knobs and sliders -monophonic only
Nortron (command+s+4) ; dspaudio Norton seq view![]()
4. Add MIDI control to External Instrument!
Editor/Librarian (think Midi quest)
With the basic on screen control parameters (like lives vst parameter view)
user definable/download-able definitions ...
(so you don't have to bloat the overall app size ) you could also release the a basic sdk so that ameture & hardware devs might have an easy excuse to sell controller plugins ?
and sysex import export ....or you could just copy image line's dashboard
(hell if they can do it ... )
When the Ableton Live is a Rewire master it occupies all of the RAM used by both Live and the Rewire slave as its own under the Live process (Live.exe) and makes it very easy to hit the Windows 1.5GB per process limit. This causes all manor of issues and crashes and simply cant be breached. If it didnt do that and left the RAM usage of the slave to its own process then it would be a lot harder to hit that 1.5GB limit. This really needs to be addressed.
