Ah- wrong. As has been mentioned, that's what the repair shop would do- fill the hole with toothpicks or the like.
Some freaks out there will even claim a tooth pick (you can get hardwood toothpicks by the way), changes the tone of the guitar.
Wrong again.

1) the wood involved is very little, both in area and weight. You're talking fractions of an ounce here; nothing compared to the four to five pounds the average Strat body weighs.
2) resinking the screw's going to get rid of most of it anyways.
