I'm glad that you can tell yourself this and be happy...

I've been doing custom Lemur setups for people for a while now, and for me (and I reckon my clients as well) the benefit of using the Lemur with our setups is that it transforms so well into whatever you have programmed for it, be it clip launching capabilities well in excess of the MonoDeckII, weird sequencing setups (of which I have done... far too many, hehe ) or just really tailored midi environments. Nothing out there comes close to that, I reckon the closest thing possible would be the monome, but I wouldn't want to control the effects for my shows with a monome. YMMV.

The physicality of the Lemur is great, in fact many people don't see that on youtube videos, but it's actually a fantastically tactile experience working on the Lemur - drawing sequences into a Pad array with a sweep of your hand, or flicking Multiballs across the screen isn't "not tactile", it's the opposite. It doesn't transmit a mechanical "click" into your finger when you program your beats, but honestly that would be terribly annoying if it did!

Machinate, that video is fucking SICK. Definitely on my favorites list, and will be linking to it from my blog. That little drop you do at 1:19 with the low pitch growl effect (I imagine some kind of delay?) was quite well timed.

You're just the bees knees of programming, but I'm sure you already know that. Have you ever done a lemur layout for Tracktor? That's really becoming my DJ software of choice, especially with the Pro version, but none of the current hardware controllers seem to cover everything you would need for a 4 deck layout.

I love Esben's stuff. In fact it's the only stuff to date that I stole from myspace using soundflower cause the man doesn't sell his tracks. Very cool and humble guy too.

DJ Kabuki, wonderful drum and bass dj, uses a 4-deck lemur layout, which is also available on the JazzMutant website, IIRC. He had done a lot of work with it, really intelligent layout and mapping, etc. I don't use Traktor, so I can't say, but who knows, I may be getting into Serato once that Ableton thing happens, hehe.
