I'm sorry, I just couldn't help myself!

Some people are very put off by Live. Some people actually find it difficult. Others sometimes think it's silly.

I have gotten people into Live. I have also failed in my attempt. It really ends up to the user.

Live users each have a different way of seeing things. Some use it for very specific purposes. Some people don't enjoy Live's angle at specific things. Others can't be bothered to invest the time in a new environment and workflows.

For performance and now interactive installations I feel that Live is the guaranteed best one-in-all solution (thanks to M4L). As a DAW, it i still up to the user and their workflow preferences and willingness to invest time in a new product. I think that is worthy of some consideration too.

I use Live for everything. I also own Sonar 8 PE and Pro Tools 8 Le, but I haven't run into a situation yet that made me reach for them because of a feature or function that Live doesn't have as a sequencer.

Plug ins are a different story.

I can't say the same thing for myself, though this Max business may change things a bit. Oh, and some of the new work-flow improvements as well.

Well i'm doing a lot of work with them soon so it would be far simpler to both be using the same program. Of course they need to conform to Ableton, not me to their DAW!

usually i just give a short hint, saying its the best thing you can get for workflow. a friend of mine who always tried to encourage me doing music (r.i.p.) did all his stuff in cubase and reason for many years, but switched over to live (with a reason) within months after i just told him of that program once in a short note. he wasn´t even telling me of that, i just found out by chance. since he is dead it feels much more serious to work with the program.
