I use Live as master to an ESX1,EMX1 and kaosspad as slaves through an RME Multiface (Midi) and they work like a charm. I can play them for hours.

Er-1 / ea-1 / m-audio midisport 2x2 / live 6.0.11 / osx 10.4.11
And i don't have any timing issues, neither having the hardware or live as master
Same results as in logic / reason and traktor... Stable sync.

i have a ES-1 and i was told by many people over the years that the midi sync on Electribes is less than perfect ; especially when used with other gear apart from the Electribe series...
This was my experience as well. With my original ES-1.

Ive never had any problems with the electribes and other outboard synths, drum machines, only with computers and specifically live. The point is that Live's sync drifts with CPU load, so it seems to work and wreaks havoc with trying to sample external machines into clips to loop in real time.

I have upgraded my PC and soundcard to considerably more powerful units since I did all my testing. I couldnt be bothered going through it all again, but maybe i should. I also didnt try it with Live 7.

I use an electribe and live without sync... but, well, sometimes, I'm really no tight...
so I want to try to slave my EMX anyway.
I'd like to have some kind of track in live, which allows me to sya "play the electribe", "stop the electribe", as if it was a clip... what should I do to do that ?

I tried to understand by myself, but, well.... I lack something. I just don't get it. midi language is to new and odd for me.
I'm just able to press play/stop on Live and it plays/stops the electribe..
