Future sound of London was brought up. They take an Eventide with 15 year old technology and make brilliant music long ago but somehow people need new Live wishes to make same thing happen when its right there in front of you. The DAW envelope has been pushed to absurdity imo as far as wishlist.
FSOL, Eon and Orbital had a tenth of what Live can do at their disposal at the time yet people still complain for more Live wishlist in 2009 thinking it will make them sound brilliant or better. It wont.
end blabing. good videos.
I think this is ultimately what spawned my obsession with the philosophy of "use what you have." With all the bashing that goes on around here with the basic Live-native tools, many people would be surprised what a bit of modulation and subtle effects work can do.

im all about use what you have. before live i used mackie tracktion, again, and i made my own music so fast with it, i am scared how fast live will go once i adjust to it. I am extremely excited to work within the session view... however my studio computer is down since my move, and that pisses me off. just been playing around in my eeepc with live and its totally not the same experience
great tutes !

Yeah, that'll happen occasionally. I've found over the years while using these techniques that with practice you will start to learn when you're about to take a wrong turn into useless-sound-land

Equally important is knowing when to STOP developing a single sound and work on the track as a whole. Then go back and add the details once you have more context within the track. For instance, don't add a huge, drawn out sustain phase on your sound when you don't know whether it's going to end up being a stab or a pad. That sounds obvious, but in the head of the moment it's easy to lose perspective of how your sound is going to service the most important thing: the finished song!
Interesting conversation that has spawned out of this.

I look forward to checking out the full tutorials. It will beat flipping through a thousand presets on a dozen softsynths to conclude with "eh, close enough". I'm sure they will help with creating the sounds from scratch and going from close enough to full on trend of the moment carbon copy.

As soon as the Aussie $ improves, (if it does) I will check out your videos Nick.
Paypal is only giving me about .62 cents for 1 AUD.
Just a bit too pricey atm, but thanks for the up Neb.
Any chance of giving us poor Aussies a further discount for your full package Nick?

For me it's given presets a whole new lease of life though, just record some shiz, stick it into sampler and re-tweak from there. hey presto, new sounds!

This is often what I end up doing as well, extending the usefulness of sample libraries and presets in addition to doing sounds from scratch. If you dig the timbre of a particular preset, nothing should stop you from taking that as a jumping-off point!

Ack, that sucks man. I've been hearing many similar horror stories from other people from all over the world. It's definitely a tough time. I always take that into account, especially when coming out with new series. Lately I have experimented with a model where you can get a pretty huge chunk of my current sound design series for $7. I am also working on a bunch of free videos right now for Youtube (

Hey, that's super nice of you Nick.
I noticed the $7 discount thingy, but can you include the $7 to come off the Mega pack ($49.99) as well as the Full package ($37.00) ?
I am interested in the Mega pack.
Thanks

Cheers, guys! To answer your question, there is definitely the option to upgrade to the Mega pack when you buy the $7 set. You'll see the option pop up on the download page that is generated for you after purchase.

Thanks to Sibanger and others for pointing out some confusion I injected into my previous post. I got a number of PM's about this and I have edited it now for clarity.

Are you the same person that posted this shit the first time I plugged my vids? You sound exactly the same. My vids have never ended up on Youtube "the next month."
Trollfail.

Parts of the site are blocked at my work, so I have a dumb question. What format are we buying?
Are they links to QT/Flash/AVI/WMV movies?
A physical DVD?
Things that will be free on YouTube in a month?
