I dunno. Try this:
Make a sine
Open Impulse
Put the sine into slot 1, soft button off
Put the sine into slot 2, soft button on
Resample both slots
Compare the recordings
I just did that, and it just looks/sounds like some volume attack envelope to me.
edit: I don't have a EQ vis plugin. If you have one, you can compare the two waveforms more accurately.
