Do you have one? On paper, I thought it looked awesome. Went to the store to have a play, but hated the layout of the encoders. They just felt too cramped. Ended up with a DDM4000 (at a third of the price), and haven't looked back :)

sorry to hear that you own a behringer unit.

yes they are cramped.

yes i do own one.

i absolutely love the fact that everything is right there and quick to access. the benefit of having everything cramped together.

considering how fast and how often i tweak effects, this is perfect for me.

The DJX700 was probably _the_ worst mixer I've ever used. I was really iffy about the DDM4000 but reviews either swung one of two ways. People either said it _would_ be cr4p, like the 700, or they were really positive from people that own it. Dunno, Im happy with it :D

I use the ecler NUO4 mixer. It is incredible; with a multiple output soundcard you can mix outboard with analog controls and still use midi mappings. I have a two output soundcard on my laptop, a Echo Indigo Audio DJ. Output 1 (track 1 and sample 1 tracks) go to channel 1 on the mixer. Channel 2 on the mixer is midi mapped to channels 1 & 2 in the software. Channel 3 is midi mapped to track 2 and sample 2 tracks, and channel 4 on the mixer takes the other output from the soundcard. You can mix with this and switch the input on the back to use CDjs, turntables, etc. Also, you can map the pitch fader to a midi map on the mixer to beatmatch with turntables and CDjs.

Great sound quality; I've given up DJ mixing inside Ableton because the equalizers are crap for live mixing. Now I use the power of ableton mixed through an analog setup — it's the best of both worlds.

I'm new to Live and I've been trying to wrap my brain around what to do with my controllers and mixers to maximize tactile control for both live and home studio setups.

I have a Zero 8, a Remote Zero SL, the audio 8 DJ card, TS Pro, Maschine controller, Kore 2, K25 keyboard, a giant A-37 keyboard, padkontrol, pioneer 909 mixer, and the Mackie D.2 mixer.

I have only explored ableton through the maschine controller, jumping from scene to scene, clip to clip. I'm still learning.

I've also routed TS pro into LIve and output the 4 decks individually to the Zero 8 just to get it to work, but didn't get any further into anything after solving the equation.

I guess I'm the owner of a few of the possible awesome LIve controllers and I"d like to know, to save a few weeks of trial and error perhaps, what do you all think?

I'm not really familiar with all of the possibilities of Live yet. I thought the Kore + Maschine controllers would greatly accompany a live setup with my full keyboard, but perhaps I should be working on shoving the Remote Zero in the case as well?

If only I didn't have to work so much I would be at home trying different things. I appreciate any insight.

Would you choose mapping the zero 8 knobs and going that route, or using the faders on the Remote Zero to mix ableton and just run master to the Korg Zero 8?

Sooooo many options....
