Absolutely. It actually costs more to upgrade to Suite 8 than to just buy a fresh educational one. What's up with that?

WIth the previous edu discounts, I would have bought it (L8 suite d/l) today.

Now I will have to wait and seriously consider it - I can now upgrade Cubase SX3 to Cubase 5 (2 generations) for 10 dollars less than upgrading L7 Suite d/l tp L8 SUite d/l and arguably the Cubase upgrade offers more functionality I want.

A friend of mine has just lost his home and is living in a homeless shelter - try telling him that the extra 80-100 dollars for the upgrade is nothing .... I ain't rich and that's pretty much food on my family table for a week at a time when we are paycheck to paycheck and then the Abes pull this stunt during a global recession - a very poor, disappointing decision.

Good luck on being able to afford M4L and an APC also.
I had considered finally biting the bullet and upgrading from V5 to 8-Suite.
Seeing as I've been retrenched that isn't going to happen at all.
Oh well.....Cest la vie.
Guess what happens when your pricing is well, "pricey" and people are under the hammer financially.

I have been upgrading my education version since Live 3. It's not right that our education upgrade path be removed. I am sure that Ableton will see the truth to this, let's make this thread a sticky or a petition in order to make the opinion of this segment of their userbase known.

With the advent of more add-ons than ever, plus the dedicated hardware surface(s?), plus the third party shit, Ableton really needs to soften the blow for the students and teachers who have been using live under edu discount deal if they hope to keep us happily recommending Ableton and recruiting new customers (we do more for your growth than your ad campaigns could ever dream of doing).

Keep that in mind please.

I too would like to see educational upgrade pricing available - if even only for the download versions. Something!
