I haven't actually said it's a direct replacement for the sounds those plug ins can make. However, the range of sounds Live does make is certainly colourful enough for them not to be missed.

When I put a piece of music together, it's usually done by mangling the overall image until it forms a complete picture.

I'm not wishing to emulate a Zappa solo or anyone else for that matter. I have never bothered with the presets for any of the above mentioned plug-ins and i'm more than happy to sculpt a sound with the tools Ableton Live supplies.

Don't get me wrong, I think the NI plugs are excellent, I wouldn't have bought them otherwise but they're not necessary to make good music and in the end, that is the aim of the game.

The one thing I would miss from Guitar Rig 3 is the modifiers, as these work without having to trigger the sequencer. The rest is superfluous to my needs.

Oh and another thing, my copy of Reaktor 5 is staying with me. I don't even think Max for Live will manage to make me part with it.

Nothing I suppose but it just sounds so gushy. It Just made me cringe thats all.

I started on dp 2.7........Swore by it. After discovering live, I decided not to upgrade to dp 6 and stay at 5.13 and keep my flow going with live. SO I agree with you

I think If I was in the recording business or I still had a studio to record, I would most definitely choose DP over Live.
However Live wins hands down as a song writing and music making tool. I liked 6 but all the chatter over at the "Nation" keeps me at 5.13.

I agree on both points. 5.13 is quite stable and can handle all the stuff live can't. But from the creative end, I just seem to gravitate towards live. I am just a one man show, doing my own music.

As a long time user i love ableton;) it,s getting better and better so i upgraded to the 8 suite version. +1!
