it doesn't have a timeout - you just choose 'keep me logged in on this computer' every time I switch on I'm still logged in!????

Any fixing that needs doing is best done yourself by finding the info from
one of the numerous sites on the web
Personally I'd suggest you stick to using the auto-updater, unless your an
avid reader of security newsletters and get news of problems before MS
patches them.....

On another note..... Have a poke around in this but don't turn services off
until you know what they do.

My Computer -> Right Click -> Properties -> Hardware -> Hardware
Profiles ....... Create a new hardware profile...

Control Pannel -> Admin Tools -> Services.... You can now set certain
services to only start in your browsing/everyday profile while in
your "Music" profile the system starts as barebones with no extra crap.

Now on the start menu click on the username at the top and add a new
user for your music stuff..... Remove all the IM crap, all the tasktray auto-
start crap.

Now you'll have a separate hardware and user profile for music compared
to everyday use. This enables you to full customise what is running on the
system as you boot it by simply selecting the different profiles/users.
