uh... so....if you're using demonoid... whats the difference between downloading and watching a copyright protected kung fu or western film and downloading and using a cracked copy of Live 8?

because they are not in print anymore. not here to argue the rights and wrongs of downloading but all the people who drive the price up are making me crazy about this crap.

I'm not ashamed to admit that the first time I used live it was a cracked copy (on a freinds laptop) and had I not used that cracked copy I would probably never have went out and bought Live 7 Suite myself.... I wanted the access to the support etc so I payed my money but I don't see anything wrong with people using cracked versions if they choose to do so, I've done many things worse than using cracked software and the world is still turning as far as I can tell!!

Nobody likes a grass though!! 8O

@OP: you're very wrong to grass others up when you're doing the same fu@!ng thing! So what if they're not in print, and actually a lot of that stuff still is... On dvd dude, and specialist shops etc. You're like the chalk calling the coke white... or something.

Now pirating doesn't annoy me too much because anyone that starts to get money from using stuff will always eventually go legal. Kids i teach music tech to, all have cracks of this or that (no matter how much i try to intro them to reaper and audacity etc; people always think something that costs is better than something free), and you can bet at least half of us here did as well, but sooner or later you start needing something stable, and support. I think the pirate industry actually increases sales, most people who have cracks would never buy the software anyway, those that do buy, will know what they prefer and move onto a legal version of it when it becomes serious...

If this was actually true, software companies would be ENCOURAGING piracy !!

Yes, a MINORITY of people will pay and go legit later, but most people are just too damned stingy/cheap to ever pay. Just because your experience was to do the right thing, don't expect the majority of freeloaders to think or do the same.

Would your average junkie pay for a hit of smack, if they could get it for free? Of course not ...especially if that hit was 800 dollars like the Live 8 Suite.

There are even commercial studios who are profiting from using illegal warez - ban piracy and waves found over a dozen, including some wlel known UK studios using cracked copies of waves, and they got photographic evidence. They then threatened to take them to court unless they paid 75,000 dollars. No cases went to court, so it shows you that these studios had the money to go legit.

Hwats up with the hate dudes.. If Ableton can keep the copyright pop up popping up and live is free for non-savers (after the 14 days) we are all happy :P Go make some bonk and piss of the future producer forum haha

I'd rather make 'bonk'

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bonk
Sexual Intercourse, in British slang (for those struggling with language barriers)

What a fucking dirtbag, you're pirating, but you want to rat out other pirates. I don't know which movies you stole so maybe I should just report your IP address to all the major movie companies.

A large portion of the members on this board, including myself have used cracked versions of Live and because of the exposure are now dedicated, loyal Ableton customers. I personally have licenses for 5 versions and ALL suite devices and libraries..... because of a crack!

junkie? come on now! that one of the worst analogies i've ever read!
minority? what stats do you have? and no, no business would ever encourage theft of its own property, my point is that most people who get cracks just get them because they're available, they would never buy the real thing if the cracked version wasnt around.
the fact remains that most people i know start off with cracks and then go legal at some stage. and i imagine that many others have this experience also. studios using cracks cant be all that because cracked software just isn't stable enough (apparently 8) ), and i cant condone having a successful business and screwing over software companies.
but really my main point was that the guy crying about live cos he bought it and cant stand others doing what he does with music and film; it doesnt make any sense for him to be crying like a little bitch because his morals and principles let him steal other things and buy live...
