I run XP Pro SP3 and 4Gb in the DAW system and it (XP) sees 3.5Gb of the 4Gb). So 32 bit seeing only 2Gb is incorrect.
This isn't quite correct either :) Sure, you can get the Windows XP to SEE more than 2 GB of RAM, but normally an application can only use up to 2 GB of memory. The exception is if you use the /3GB switch which enables an application to use up to 3 GB of RAM. But this also limits the OS itself to only use 1 GB, which can cause other problems.

I think you should all be aware that Live's memory cleanup isn't up to the job yet.
So when closing a set and opening another you aren't starting from scratch.

I've tried to ask the users to take notice in this forum and all I got was
"is that how you spend your time with?"

In case anyone cares see

What if I delete the unused samples?
This should help. Maybe take one of your beast kits and trim it down to just the basics and save the preset as "BeastKitLite" or some such, then switch to the BeastKit when you need the additional articulations.
  1. Search for "poodleface" on YouTube.
  2. See Ric Flair rap.

I just got a MBP 2.66 with 4GB of ram, and although I've only had it a short time, I haven't had a problem yet with Live 8.
I just finished a project with 26 tracks with two instances of Analog Factory and running a cool 30%, 6 minute song with a bunch of plug ins....
