Well, you unlock it once and that's it. Not sure how much more "hassle-free" it can be.
Best,
Nico
Well. That's just fine, but if I have my DAW and my laptop unlocked, and my DAW Hard Drive dies on friday night, it might take until monday before I can have Live running on it again, since I will need a new unlock, and since there is no way to "unauthorize" my laptop to free up an unlock for my DAW. So, entirely hassle free it isn't.

That being said, I have never had any real issues. Support has always been quick and helpful providing med with another unlock whenever I have reinstalled or such, and I have had little to no trouble with the auth system messing up, so, all in all I would say your copy protection isn't much of an issue for me, even though I'm generally very much against copy protection schemes of the dongle or challenge-response variety.
Live + M4L, MacBookPro & Ultralite mk3. Plugins from Softube, Soundtoys, Eventide, 2CAudio, Cytomic, AudioDamage, OhmForce, FabFilter, SonicCharge, Waves, MadronaLabs, NI and ExpertSleepers. Oh, and a bunch of hardware... =D

Well, you unlock it once and that's it. Not sure how much more "hassle-free" it can be. The problem discussed in this thread only occurs if something has corrupted Live's executable file. The "copy protection violation" error message is just another symptom of the file corruption. A corrupt executable file would not work anyways.

Best,
Nico
Nico, when I say 'hassle free', I mean copy protection that's not a hassle when it comes to installing on a new computer.

Personally, when I reinstall software on a new machine I don't want to have to worry about getting in touch with developers for more authorizations before my software is functioning again. This is especially true if it’s the primary software I’m using.

I understand that as a company you’re trying to protect your work. I also hope that as a company you understand that you’re losing potential sales because of it.

Ok, now this support thread has emerged into a challenge/response vs. dongle protection vs. no protection debate. There are currently no plans to provide a dongle-based solution. That's all I can say. I'd suggest to create a new thread in the "general" forum to discuss that or post a feature request on the wishlist forum if you're looking for a better solution / or even have a groundbreaking idea for a new, bullet proof and hassle-free copy protection mechanism. Thanks.

Best,
Nico

I dislike dongle protection just as much as C/R and wanted to voice my opinion on the matter. Thank you for your replies Nico.
