Some of you might find Computo's
Free X-session xfader Curve Editor useful. Doesn't work on my PC though, and can't say if it would work with other (or even no) hardware.

also-
anyone else agree that midi control for envelopes or any of the clip functions for that matter (pitch, sample offset, warp markers?) would be awesome for Live playing......
