You do not need a dongle to install Minimoog V2. Once. But once you have installed it, you cannot move it to another computer unless you have a dongle.
Which means that if you ever expect to replace your computer by a new one, or you ever wish to run the software one more than one computer, you will eventually need a dongle.

Yes, but that's also true of challenge and response systems used by many plugin vendors. Ableton's included, although the Abes are kind enough to allow for the software to be installed on 2 machines (although not to be run SIMULTANEOUSLY on two machines) for the scenario of someone, i.e. DJs or Live Performers running a laptop and then bringing their work home and doing more arrangement and/or mixing on a desktop etc.
You CAN move Minimoog 2 to another computer, but only after uninstalling and getting a reauthorization code, so a dongle is a better system if you typically work out of more than one location, or use more than one system. Obviously it is very inconvenient to keep having to get authorization codes and uninstalling/reinstalling software.

Has anyone of you ever dealt with the Arturia support?
I wrote them twice that I cannot register my product online (and therefore not download minimoog v2) because it keeps telling me that my serial number is wrong, which is impossible because
a) I double checked it
b) I even tried a second time, also including a check
c) I have already registered my minimoog plugin with that serial, it is working for more than a year now.
I don't know what else to do, they simply don't respond. Due to their "fantastic" idea "you only get a contact form if you have already registered your product" I can't go this way and they don't respond to requests in the general contact form.
Great products, but what about the support?

The first time I tried contacting them before I was a customer, it took about two weeks for them to respond, but they did. I've had them respond the next day though as well since I've had my licenses.
Unfortunately I think you're slipping through the cracks as a non customer at the moment. It does make sense that they prioritize registered people, since we don't want them giving support to people with illegal copies before the real customers. But it sucks in your case because you are a real customer. You know what you should do - post on the support forum under the technical issues. They often respond there the same or next day. And they'll find your request and sort you out.

Thanks for the tip, I'll try that tomorrow. 2 weeks would be fine for me anyway, as long as they respond in the end and solve the problem....

email
[email protected] instead of the fogbugz thing they use on the web form.
Although I have used both methods, and they dealt quickly with me on both issues, they took longer using the web form.
