If you do some googling, there are VST's that will store the audio in a buffer and let you flip it around. Stick that on your master bus and go for it :)
Cool! I'll be sure to check it out tomorrow... the computer screen is getting blurry, so that means it bedtime for me!

Still, good to know there's something out there to do that, otherwise I would have just cut up the sample to reverse in Sampler, which is not terribly tedious, but still nothing i could get excited to do.

thanks I think the vst is probably the easiest way to do this.

No one ever EQ's nuances while the tape was rewinding on our old analog boards?

Why not simply resample the master track and reverse the recorded clip?.. Seems like a pretty painless workaround to me..
But maybe I'm missing something....

because we still want multi-track functionality during the rewind

Hey Einstein, if Live is playing MIDI instruments backwards it would be totally different from reversing their recorded audio, just think about it. And what about reverb & delay? they would be doing their thing the other way round (or is that how you want it?) You are victim of the "a button for everything" syndrome, you think the program should have a function for everything, no matter how obscure.
