Reason now has an audio input!
Which comes as a standalone module :D

Awesome.. I called it!
I swear I didn't know beforehand. I just went with my biggest gripe and joked about it.

LIAR!

so it'll be kind of like a Recycle... but for audio. I was kind of expecting something else... slightly more exciting. Oh well, maybe it'll have some cool integration and other features that make the announcement worthwile.

BTW, I LOL'd at the guy who comes in at 0:08 of the tease video.

It's called "Record" because it records??? They must've been impressed with "Sampler"...

Here's the story from someone who was at the show today.

It sounds like it's going to be like a skin for Reason 4 that will allow you to record audio, and there is a new mixer that is based on the SSL 9000. It's suppose to sound warm and fat like a real SSL, and even has the "hiss" like a true analog mixer would have.

So you get hiss, time stretching, the ability to record audio and an SSL emulated mixer.

*cough* BORING *cough*

If that's all it is, what a let down. There must be more to it than that.

It is sort of lame. It really does nothing for people who already Rewire Reason into their own DAWs.

This really only benefits people who use Reason exclusively.

Since Live 7 Suite, I hardly even open Reason anymore.

Record uses a USB Dongle? When all other DAWs do not? Fail.

Where does it say it uses a dongle?

If that's the case, I'm officially finished caring about this...

I saw that earlier and figured you had some advance knowledge.
that was pretty weird!

and more exciting than the actual product.
I was expecting something a lot more - um, interesting/imaginative/ground breaking?

Embarrassingly bad video, regardless of the product.

It does have a dongle, but if you don't have it available you can still authorize your computer via the internet and continue to use the application as normal.

Like how iTunes used to do for protected songs, etc.

its a pretty elegant way of putting "some" control on piracy while still allowing people who actually bought the app to not have to worry about being saddled with a HW piece, IMO.

some details from an attendee.
http://www.futureproducers.com/forums/s ... p?t=294135
his summary: companion DAW-like program to co-exist with reason. dongle. 'console' modeled on SSL. timestretching.
my summary: meh.
