I have The Art of Mixing by David Gibson. I wouldn't go so far as to call it a bible but there is some useful fucking info in that book. There is one he did with another dude called The Art of Producing.

You can take them with you and don't have to worry about getting viruses while you search through them.

Probably my favorite book on music production is:

Mixing with your mind

http://www.mixingwithyourmind.com

It's not geared specifically for dance music like the Dance music Manual, but it's very forward thinking. Some of my favorite techniques come from this book.

The mixing engineer's handbook is a great read as well.

For mastering, you cant go wrong with: Mastering Audio by Bob Katz

Innerstate JT nailed it with Mixing With Your Mind.

Get it. read it. read it again. Keep it by your desk.

It's not all relevant to us, but a lot is and the stuff that's there is worth it's weight in gold.

The other two books he recommended are good.

To be honest I think the Snowman book (dance music manual) is utter garbage. You find better info on forums than in that book.

but, some ppl like it so YRMV

Mixing Engineers Handbook was a good un as well but I think someone mentioned that already.

Cheers

Oh and worth a check is Unlocking the Groove. It' more technique / analysis for techno than production but if you interested its seriously in depth. The byline for the book is 'Rhythm, Meter, and Musical design in Electronic Dance Music'

It's very academic in its nature, I suspect it was the guys masters thesis which he has then extended into a book. Still it's a great dissection of techno music and why certain hings work and I found it really got me thingking about rhythm in new ways. Or more accurately understanding on an intellectual level things that I had previously been doing just by feel or semi consciously. .

if it's not the Bible it's at least the Qur'an.
Hahaha, did anyone else see the reviews?
Review
A brisk and heartfelt coming-of-age story of a misfit growing up with more than the usual burdens of living in a tourist trap. -- Mid-American Review

The wrap-it-all-up ending, as well, is suited to the young audience...Cummings has done a fine job of making a young adult novel. -- Gulf Stream Magazine
