You can fake 8 by using the two return channel faders, thats what a few guys I know have done, but the return strips are missing knobs etc
it is bank-able.. (bank makes channels control track 7 - 12) but to be honest, for dj type gigs 6 channels is more than adequate (if not slightly overkill)

Yeah, played with the banks. It's a right pain if you want to adjust something on track 9 while doing the same on 1 though ;)

All I do is play one channel anyways and the rest of the time I just pump my fist in the air to the beat. The VCM will help me excel at that.

I've got one at the moment to demo at the Brisbane launch tomorrow and I have to say for DJing it's impressive

really solid build, feels like it would be reliable for gigging with it all the time

amazingly easy to get it going

my only comments: Loop is a bit kind of redundant - I mean there can be uses for it, but I'd bet 90% of DJs will expect it to loop on the fly like traktor and wonder why the fuck it operates punch in/out for DJing!

the Tempo control is scarily dangerous - it really looks like the master vol and way to easy to knock - I probably would have preferred it to go up the top more out of the way - I get that it's meant to be more like turntable/CDJ pitch but it that's kind of redundant here

regarding why it's not 8 tracks - the thing is big enough, I wouldn't want it any bigger, and as SJ said, for most DJ situations it's going to be fine

It has mysteriously dropped out on me a couple of times requiring me to go into the prefs and re-enable it which is slightly concerning

also - lack of snapping to middle or 0dB is annoying, especially on the EQs because you don't really know where you are, especially with EQ3 being a bit rubbish as it is

overall though, for straight DJing I would thing this would be hard to beat

This is exactly the kind of thread I was looking for xD

I'm going to buy one of these very very soon. Only using 4 channels so not sure what to use the last 2 for. It seems like this will be a heavenly set up with my launchpad, which I'll use for mashing out beat repeats/loops and the like :)
