I have a full time day job out of necessity. Music isn't just my profession, it's my life. I spend well over 60 hours a week in the studio, and additional time performing and promoting. I have no time for anything else and that's OK. That's my choice. It's called paying dues.

If it was easy to be a success, then everyone on here would be successful.

Got news for you Noobs, It takes a Fuckload of dedication and hard work!

I'm not in it for the money. I'm in it because I love it.

I kinda see it your way..however, still not sure about the full time day job..ah mean is there another real job, or are you just being sarcastic about music being your full time job. 60 hour woork-weeks and all?
I see it like you, but I have to pay the bills and want to keep loving making music so I wouldn't want it to be the one to pay the bills. Except of course if I made a big hit and everything followed after that.
fe real!

No sarcasm. (I wish). No I have a 40 hour / week profession that pays my bills. I am not making enough money with music yet to live on.

Dues man. Payin' my dues.

Perfect illustration of this is Peter Hook from New Order. He had been on 'Top of the Pops' and toured around the world, but when he got back he was getting paid £10 a night for moving the PA around in the Hacienda . Later on he found out that he part-owned the Hacienda and if he had been paid his due would have been a wealthy man back then. But as the music biz goes, Antony H Wilson diverted the bands money away from them and into a mis-judged nightclub

I teach guitar lessons for a living, and do small jazz gigs occasionally. Studio stuff is more a hobby at this point, though I used to have a small basement studio with a partner back in the day. I don't ever want to go back to recording new band's demos, talk about hard work (mostly babysiting).

Hello, Yes I make my living playing the drums. I perform live from clubs to concerts, also do recording sessions.
I'm a freelance hired human groove machine. I'm on tour in Japan at the moment. I totally support my family by
playing the drums. Flexibility has been one big factor for me to be successful as a professional musician.
I'm also using live for my next CD. "Play when I work & work when I play" love it! :D

any known acts ?

power to you...I have friends which are ' musicians for hire ' ...
it's a very demanding job...
and you have to be very flexible and be available at all times..
otherwise you lose gigs...
...I would be pretty bummed out to play in some of the gigs they do...

I haven't the faintest what all this Creprezz shit is a bout. However, it does tend to make me sleepy whenever I see it.

The stuff I love doing, makes nothing.
The stuff I hate doing, makes tons (sample packs yay)

And then my dayjob... makes me want to wrist cut.

But the stuff I love doing keeps me in a happy place... sometimes... until I go onto beatport. (shivers)
Because Whatever.
