Great samples are rolling in. for the piece of mind for some, there are shots/samples/loops. Really diverse stuff.
For those of you thinking i'm running the whole show, Painseeker revised every rule from this draft.
I agree the previous round should go on. It's really awesome what you can do with so little.
Round two is just an adjustment to all the whiners who made it so that painseeker lost motivation to go on.
There are still some people bugged by somethings.
To them i can only say: if you do not like the restrictions, to bad for you.....
People from over the whole world are joining in. Most of them excited and willing to follow the rules. Diverse people, diverse sample's, diverse tracks..........
As far as the live 3 or 4 debate goes. Live 4 is the tool at hand. nobody says you MUST use live 4.
If you feel left out by the possibility's others have. Maybe you should upgrade?
Anyway, Keep the 'i want to join' mails and samples coming. I also got some mails wich did not include samples or I want to join.
Please always state your forumname in the mail.
Having worldwide contenders can give a person a nice list of unpronouncable names

.als is short for Ableton Live Set, or Ableton Live Song
its the overall song file you save your song as.

I'm currently testing a server setup wich would allow us to exchange presets, sets, info,.....
And make it easy to do contests with larger sample's/loops.
This will be for somewhere in september though. probably when round 2 ends
The reason i cannot do it right away is because i'm selling my g4 to get a g5.
As for the re-sampling issue. The reason it's restricted in this contest, is to make it easyer for exchanging the sets.
You only need the als file from Live because you would already have the samples. The endresults are being sent to the contenders only.
Having the server will resolve the issue. No more limits on sample's and size.
Cheers

whatever the rules... i'm in too. it will be hard to do a lot of crazy stuff without resampling on my 1Ghz pc, but alas, next time other rules?
worse is: i probably won't be able to open most live files sent in...

Hehe. now pc users finally have decent argument in the mac-pc debate.
I dont doubt that performance will keep improving though.
In Ableton we trust

People who joined so far.....
Adam Jay

Dongle doc
frederik654
TIK
jimmy Smutek

Forge
Raapie
Painseeker
pepezabala
Hoffman2k
Espleece
I also got other mails. but it's hard to make out if those where to join or to comment.
It's not needed to send more samples, but they are always welcome.
After hearing them, some of you will think "what the hell is this?".
But then again, your not working with cubase you know...
Rules are final. No exceptions.
Reversing a sample within Live is the only form of re-sampling that is allowed.

Sweet!
Just to clarify, do we have to use all of the samples in the sample pack or can we use only the ones we want?
I don't care either way, but I'd like to be sure.

you can use any of the samples in the samplepack. But you do not need to use them all. I know there's still some restrictions. But Painseeker showed us the way. you'd be surprized what you can do with the single shots

When i got me new comp i'll deticate a server to Live 4. Just to do some more projects where there are virtually no restrictions.
