Cricket is neither for the heathen (working class yorkshire types, unless they can actually play in which case they are excused and can turn out for England once in a while) nor Johnny Foreigner (by whom I mean, those not trained in the ways of the gentleman by the English at some stage in their colonial history).

Lords? LORDS? That's also only for the heathens and the egg and bacons (MCC members). Everyone knows the true home of clickky ba' is The Oval. :D

Ah, the gas tanks, KP, 157, winning the ashes 2005 wasn't it? Hmmm?

ah yes, how can i forget...i'm pretty sure i wept!
was a great series though

interesting how you poms have managed to erase all memory of the ashes whitewash in 07. i blame dr who.

i went to lords about 12 years ago. poms vs pakistan. watching cricket at lords is a completely different experience compared to standing on the hill at adelaide oval, it's one of those things that any cricket fan would want to do at some time in their life and i loved every minute of it.

anyway i think honors are about even at the end of day 1...still anyones game

I still prefer The Oval, but Lords is a great ground obviously.

Yes, I was there that final day in 2005, I also wept, with pride. Was sad seeing Simon Jones in the stands yesterday, felt for him. his reverse swing was one of the reasons we did well that year.

I don't think anyone forgets '07, from a spectacle point of view it just wasn't that great. Whereas '05, the closeness of the series, that it went down to the wire on the final day of the final test, Eng winning by 2 runs earlier in the series.

just amazing.

I bought the DVD

I lived 10 minutes walk from the Oval for a while and nver went....I spent most of my time living there going clubbing and spending the week recovering because it was so unbelievably close to the clubs we used to frequent

LOL, yeah it used to rain down from the roof!

Hughes started brightly...we need to get him out soon after lunch. Mike 'Mr Cricket' Hussey the danger man though...and Ponting chasing the 2nd all time leading test run scorer spot.

Katich a good player of spin.

Gonna be a good two session these today.

Shame is I fancy a draw if Aus post a good 1st innings total as the wether is set to be shite Saturday,Sunday

What started as a good day for England has ended as a good day for Australia: Katich and Ponting both get a hundred!!! 8)

Australia still have more work to do: England has the runs on the board, but if there is any time lost to weather I am thinking this test will be a draw. Unless the pitch plays up...or there is a king tide... :P
