Thanks dude. I appreciate the respect, especially from another vocal technician! Please holla back at me once your stuff is together! Or shoot me some mp3's even.

I've got some more new stuff coming out later this year. I'll holla back when it's done.

You know what would be off the hook is if you could also use this tip to automate tempo too. I guess it's not too much to have to assign a midi controller to the tempo, but it'd make things a lot easier doing shows solo.

and about the tempo what were you lookin to do, I know you can have scenes cycle through diff tempos by adding the bpm to the name of the scene but I don't know if that is what you're lookin for or not

some more diggin' on this brilliant tip:

so you have this track with 'audio automation'. set its output to 'sends only'. say none of the return track were used (so we're working on A and B). turn 'send A' and 'send B' to maximum value.
set A in pre and B in post, and use the crossfader (A on A, B on B).
now you have instant chopping or not.
if you mess with these setting a bit, you'll find that you can either send all your audio signal to the processed return track, or to the dry one.

sounds really nice (like first you chop the voice input, and after a while everything becomes chopped).

Please, could somebody do a tutorial with screenshots, arrows and loads of examples?
I can't seem to get my head around the millions of possible uses?!?

Hmm... I'm not the greatest teacher, but here's some visuals...

This is the setup for basic automation of a Live Input...

That's for basic 32nd-note gating of a Live Input. You can go much further by automating FX too. Some uses i've found:
1) Pan your voice around the room while you're on the mic...without having to turn any knobs
2) Mic the crowd and have the crowd sound swell in and out with the beat
3) If you're playng a synth or on the mic, you can have the last beat of every two measures sent to a Return Track for echo.
4) Run turntables or a CD player into Live and automate FX on it
5) For audio/visual stuff : run the sound from your video clips/DVD into Live and automate FX/volume on that. We've had lots of fun remixing movies in realtime using this technique

Another interesting use:
Route drums from Impulse to tracks with blank clips to automate FX for each drum. eg - heavier reverb on every second snare hit...
Route audio from Return Track to a track with blank clip automation. eg - Chopped up reverb that pans around the room, with automated feedback loop...

This could all be done with Arrangement view, but this is just a way to do it on the fly, in Sesh view...
