I ditched it for Logic years ago, but Logic has never been that good with Live IMO, and DP6 should be. Honestly the major thing to me is not having DP convert files to SDII etc. and bounce in place looks real good. DP also should work as a live audio and VI host, freeing Live up etc. I plan on running both Live, and DP live. DP as a huge audio file AU host and Live as the sampler on steroids it is. Zero load times etc. Also, it's probably my imagination, but DP seems to record MIDI better than either, less jitter etc. <-- also input quantize is far more logically though out in DP than in Live or Logic.
some guys hated the GUI change so much they are still using 5.13 after they have purchased the V6 update, look at some screen shots and check it over, I love the new look completely, my taste only though, some guys say they just cant look at it for more than an hour.
I'm not big on it, I like the grey/green Logic look with the ability to color the arrangement and piano roll windows the way you want, but GUI isn't that important IMO. I do wish they offered flavors light to darker. Live rules this way.
(battery 3) crashes if I do to much pitch modulation too quickly, like 3 or 4 layers of pitch modulation at once will crash it while adjusting the pitch/tune controls, but I believe that to be battery and not DP6.
Try the beta, Battery 3 hosed Lives GUI for me on my system, froze it in every song it was loaded in, and a few updates back it did the same thing with Live.... The public beta is fine though.

Unfortunately they dropped the ball on DP6 and I was a DP worshipper for the longest. Oh well Motu's loss, Ableton's gain.
Apologize for the Thread Jack:

what didnt you like about DP6?, I have been in love with this version since I got it at the beginning.

the most stable my system has been in years and the feature set in 6 is awesome, comp tool etc...

what burned you about it?
Honestly, I haven't used 6 yet. I'm also at the "nation" and I didn't receive enough positive reviews to go ahead and upgrade.
I know that when people are happy they aren't posting but it seemed this go around had the biggest amount of complainers than I have ever seen before. Besides, here in Japan the upgrade is fiercely expensive. 5.13 is rock solid and the thing is that once I tried Live it was nearly impossible to go back to writing in DP. Don't get me wrong. If I had a studio again and I was recording bands. I would NO DOUBT be using DP to record. But Live just makes it better to write songs. I really like a lot of the GUI changes but I really hate what they did to the counter at the top. HUGE waste of space. If I run into extra money(unlikely since my wife's birthday is this month) I'll upgrade but it'll just be collecting dust until it's time to master my album(whenever the fuck that is).

I stayed at 5.13 also. I have been a dp user since ver 2.7 on os 9. I love dp. I decided to sit out 6 since 5.13 is rock stable and I have been exploring and discovering live more and more as a primary daw. I am in the same boat as you without a dedicated studio at the moment, so live really suits all my needs.
