bad luck.
If the problem never occurred in the studio, that suggests it might be something to do with the environment - heat and vibration don't work very well with computers. Did your Mac give you any indication of what the problem was, any error message? YOu could try NI support, or their forum.
If you keep the Macbook and AK1 then perhaps try to locate it in a well ventilated position, as isolated from vibration as possible. I assume it was not running from battery, because that's never a good idea. Gaffer taping your usb cable might not be a bad idea either.
As for sound checks, I fear them a bit. Very important. Things sound different with a lot of bodies in the way too, so unless you have someone their with ears you trust I guess your best bet is to try and get into the crowd and check for yourself... not very Live though.
So I had my first gig with Live the other night.
Re: So I had my first gig with Live the other night.
I once tested a new live set over and over at home and it went fine.
On the first live gig the same set gave me 3 bluescreens in 3 diffenrent
situations. At home I was not able to reproduce one of the crashes.
It never happened again when playing live.
So TRY to reproduce the things you experienced. If you can't just
file it as bad luck and move on.

let me tell you a story..
My band was offered a spot on a fairly important concert that was about to take place in less that 8 hours. He didnt want to play the show because he was sore from teh gym.
im soo tempted to just record his vocals and launch his vocal clips live..
