damn alot of positives for the UAD,
and i must admit there isnt anything wrong with Live 7 for me,
so are UAD mainly fx and processing ? or do they do instruments also ?
if i get one would it be better to get one from the USA for a lower price
or just get a used one from ebay and get the user to transfer the details to me ?
true pianos sounds interesting, this is a different vst right ?
so with the UAD are they all different prices as they include more plugs ?
i could only find one for 1k on doplhinmusic ??

I would go UAD-2, I have both and I still get some little audio crackles with the old cards sometimes, the new cards are much better. Also the old cards double your latency if your audio card is for example 256 samples then the UAD-1 will bump it to 512, this is because the PCI bus is slow, the new cards are PCIe and don't have that problem. Also the 2nd generation plugs are really really cool shit (Moog filter with overdrive stage, Cooper Time Cube delay, Fatso, EMT-250) are all UAD-2, Moog is also UAD-1 but takes almost a whole card!.
If you're cool with Live 7 and you're dying for some icing on the cake, slick compressors and warm effects, go UAD if you're dying for vocoder, grooves, crossfades, better warping, group tracks go Live 8.

Just go buy a UAD-2. If you want it as cheap as possible, then I think that answers your questions "which to buy?" Go buy the cheapest one.
