But from what I've heard on past rumors you will be able to plug in a USB keyboard and use that as well. Matter of taste solved.
Bluetooth too I'm sure.
Right, and then we're moving closer to a laptop type set up. So I predict first the touch screen pad, and then the touch screen laptops and iMacs.
And soon after that Ableton will be done debugging Live 8.

There will be various sizes. The biggest one will run full Osx, so expect a dual core. They do that in less space today.
Oh and a gust of wind told me it will be multitouch.

If you do get a first gen then you should for sure get Apple Care (as you should with all Apple products).
And especially with this device if you are a chronic porn site frequenter. I hope they're putting in some serious OT testing it for that demographic.

Haha, that's funny... "I bought it for Ableton but I haven't made any music yet..."
Nicley nicely on the merits of this rig forumistas, is it indeed your feeling that it won't be a full-powered mac? I just thought it would be like a macbook but without the other half of the laptop...

My guess is this again, will be where apple fucks the dog.
Just a guess but first generation, no firewire, second generation, firewire on the most expensive model, and third generation firewire on all models, fourth generation, firewire abandoned for USB3.0
Been waiting for this, but the chances of it having more than one USB, firewire, a decent CPU, and a decent hard drive are slim. So are the chances of it working with Live out the door, I recall Live having issues with touch screens on PCs.

Zero info to back this up, but my worry is that it would be more like an iPhone with big screen. Dunno if they're considering tying them to mobile contracts, but that would probably kill it...

Forgot to add that I do look forward to it, and I'll definitely keep up with what people post about their experience with these when they come out.
What would be awesome IMO is if Apple or some other manufacturer released a wireless LCD multi touch screen, so you could have the computer in a corner while you used the screen to control it.

My sister needed a new computer around the time that the first MacBooks were coming out, and I made her wait until they released it. She bought it and still uses it to this day. Some of the keys ended up falling out, but her AppleCare ended up covering it and they got a new keyboard installed.
Kind of like the dual 1.8 G5 tower that I bought refurbished in early 2004, that I'm typing this post on right now. My friend bought the same computer around the same time, and his was a total lemon. Motherboard died, hard drives crashed, one thing after another. It's a bit of the luck of the draw.
Those tablets are cool, but you can bet they are aimed squarely at consumers. Even if they were available today, I'd still likely go for the 13" MBP.

its a very good idea actually! If you look at how the 3rd party software for the the ipod/iphone touch have evolved and exploded, it s eazy to imagine the next step device! The possibilities is almost endless with what programmers would create for such a device! Plus, keeping the computer out of the box will cut the expenses. Most of the targeted marked, the "consumers", have at least one comp at home anyway.
Just to name a few, it could be a:
Star Trek style general house controller/remote
Themed Game Pad
Musical Instrument or Sequencer
Custom Midi/Video/DMX Controller
Paint and Draw pad
3D sculptor pad
and of course not to forget: A typewriter!!

Should be able to work up a neat touchscreen midi interface in Max and probably wirelessly network to a laptop running Live for complete stomping on the lemur. chances are, apple will roll something like this out for $500-700 or so (based on current pricing of the iphone) so it'll probably be a complete bargain compared to the lemur.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it comes out soon so they can work the bugs out before i'm ready to buy.
