Spot on. But you might want to add that the "at your own risk" disclaimer is not the "you're losing your guarantee" kind of thing but really more of a "if there's a short circuit somewhere, your equipment will actually toast you".

I have a similar problem with my setup, I have powered monitors too. It's happening because the monitors are always amplifying any signal in their inputs at maximum so any RF signal is always getting magnified.
I also get it when I have a browser open and it's streaming flash or displaying a white webpage. I've traced it to interference from the Graphics card when it's processing, and yes, balanced leads will sort it out. I recently changed my monitor to one with a digital connection and the problem lessened to a bearable level but the real solution is a better soundcard with proper balanced connections. I've yet to buy a new one but it's definitely next on my purchase list.

Good luck with it, it drove me nuts for ages until I figured it out.

Hehe, will give an update. Heading off to Israel this weekend for a fortnight, so will try sort it out when I get back.

Always good having a girlfriend who sorts out writer's block and is great at knob tweaking. (And not just on the controller ;) )

+1 balanced cables.

Could properly grounded electrical outlets also solve this problem?
