Hey all, I noticed that the vid player uses a lot of CPU to stream/decode, so that might be your latency issue? I don't have any issue streaming it from the site, so that's the only thing I can think of.

As for the ghost notes not being audible, that seems a bit odd. Can you let me know which video and I can see if I hear anything wrong?

Also, you guys should know that you can get the videos as downloads without having to use the player or do any conversions, yeah? It's an option when you go to checkout. From the site:

"Download the full product immediately after checkout. (Hi-Speed Internet Required)
After product is downloaded, no internet connection is required to watch videos."

i should have made it more loud maybe? dunno, i'll recheck.

if i download it as full product, then i get a html-page with the same flashplayer in, and the files to play in there, so it's identical, just offline

Yeah, make sure you're listening on your monitors/headphones... as for the offline files, I've only ever streamed little parts of it as I'd seen it enough while doing the initial editing of it Just use VLC to play the offline then, I'd imagine they're just flv files.

Somebody already mention that the videos in the download version actual are "normal" mpeg4 files. So i tried to watch them again using the VLC player. And tadddaa: much better. Using VLC player the video is much smoother and syncs to the audio. So i'm fully pleased with the product.

I purchased this a couple of days ago. It's a great tutorial and I would like to thank timothyallan for also pointing me to the Groove3 website. Because of this, I also purchased Effects Plug-ins Explained which is sooo informative. Being new to Ableton Live, I plan to purchase the Live tutorials soon.

Although obviously aimed at the beginner, the tutorial has so much information in it that even the seasoned producer can appreciate. I do agree though with the others with regards to the chosen video format and player. What was the reason why Groove3 Inc. chose .GBX instead of the standard mp4 or quicktime format? Is it more effecient? I have to admit though that it loads pretty quick on a 1st Gen iPhone really fast and glitch free over Wifi. So that's a big plus if you're traveling. GBX is obviously just a container (like mkv) that you can actually change the extension to avi or mp4 and would be playable to most players. So what's the real advantage? Navigation?

Thanks guys, really stoked on how well it's been doing actually. Just spoke with one of the guys who runs Groove3, and he was asking when I was going to start on the second in the series

Hey Frankie - glad you like FX explained - I worked pretty hard on that, so it's great to hear some good feedback!

I know the guys put a lot of work in to the website update they did a few months ago, and the player changed then, so I think they tried a lot of things out and that was what they ended up with (as for exact reasons you'd have to ask them!) but I think because they offer videos as either downloads or to stream for 30 days then they have to make it so that you can't just download the streaming versions...so I guess it's maybe a kind of copy protection? I guess for anyone who's clued up it's probably not that hard to get around, but they can't make it too easy!
