I haven't checked the ej.function Machinate mentioned, but judging from the image on the website it not curved.

Why a ADSR on a clip could be nice is if you modulate the adsr or you could retrigger it with midi. But maybe I guess you could also do this inside the patch by modulating an amp. But that does not work for other than volume parameters.

I agree that adsr~ is limited, but it does what it has been deisnged for.

For me personally, I'm gonna look into using curve~ more I think.

mostly unrelated but using a delay after a standard adsr (i.e. on the envelope amplitude and not after osc/etc) can give some nice results (imo)

ej.function, now we're talking.

I vote for adding to the standard install, if the maker agrees, hehe.
Now There's one last thing and its the same with the normal function, how to automate the breakpoints?
If we would have the ej.function with automatable breakpoints (that ideally would be able to also optionally snap to a grid) that to me would be the holygrail of enveloping.

But being able to autamate would be nice.

If you want to automatize it just use pattr. Enable parameter, and set its parameter type to blob.

I'll try that tonight!, thanks.

AH wow - I don't seem to get reply notification emails any more - I didn't realise this got replies!!

Thanks Guys - yeah I personally feel this is something that would ideally come with the install - definitely would make sense to have some similar envelope building blocks like the existing Live ones - although I also agree that ones like Absynth would be even better

@Machinate - I don't feel it's the same as just using Clip envs., firstly for the reasons Poster (and others) said, but also from a purely visual/aesthetic usability point of view - it just would feel more natural and immediate to have some envelope controls like in the rest of Live - even just the 4 knobs, but a button to switch to graphical mode would be even better

but the other major reason is to do with mapping - it would be great for example to be able to map the knobs to a controller, or even have a master rack that could be used on audio tracks that would give you instant ADSR control with 4 of the 8 macros for example.

this is something I make use of in many places with in Live, such as mapping Operator or drum racks/simpler to macros, so it would make sense to have them for audio clips as well

I love clip envelopes, it's one of my favourite features in Live, but they are not conducive to mouse-free control, and they can also be a bit fiddly to use at times - so yeah I guess it would be even better if you could have a drop down menu that allowed you to choose which parameters in the clip envelopes were available on the ADSR device

I'd love to try this myself, but I think it's beyond the scope of my reality at the moment

thanks

I've just been trying to load it - but I don't even know the basics, like how to paste the code and make it actually work!!

for some reason it's showing on the device in Live as patcher mode and not presentation mode

(replied in that thread!)

cheers
C.

EDIT: djod hooked me up with "open in presentation mode" - seems like a weird way to do it - My guess is it will trip up a lot of noobs
