Steinberg claim they have the best one, in Cubase. Why shouldn't you believe them?

I liked IK Multimedia's reverbs, but there is not enough gain to get it thick. I always had to drop a utility plug with 8db of boost.

UAD stock reverb is what I use most, but the stock Ableton reverb is what I am using more and more. If you play with it you can get a good sound out of it.

Steinberg's Reverence in Cubase 5 actually IS the bomb. As far as a reverb which comes for free in the box. Only downside is it's resource hogging, but SB say that will be improved in future revisions of C5 and beyond. They already improved it a bit in the 5.0.1. release.

The LA Studio A preset is a go to when I mix in C5. It also has some great surround presets.

Having said this, those Bricasti M7 Impulses are also amazing and usable in Reverence and other convo revrbs.

How many of you guys are actually using Altiverb?

It seems like it's a really good plug, but it's not cheap.

Reverbs are often a matter of taste and production style...

I like Eos (Best AD plugin, IMO), Aether ('nuff said) and Uhbik Ambience...

Before I sold my UAD card, I was all about the EMT Plate 140....

True and true. You might spend nearly as much buying a bunch of cheaper reverbs tho.

Very good point. I was considering Aether or CSR, but I'm really impressed with the Altiverb 6 movie on their website ( http://www.audioease.com/Pages/mp3%20Al ... glish.html ) I think I'll go with that, as soon as I get the cash.

Altiverb is serious business. Aether compliments it beautifully.

I prefer the SIR 2s gui over the Altiverb gui. Its simple yet brilliant. you set the envelope curve on top of the ir sound wave representation. Its a lot lighter and faster to load then Altiverb, which was important to me. Theres a load of free really nice IR presets around.

SIR2: $189
Altiverb6: $595

Ambience. Available for a while now, but considering the costs: very impressive.

Ableton Reverb presets are too obvious but I like to begin to work with the native plugin before the final mix. However I don't use the factory presets at all but my own presets. If you are interested you can download the LivePack here:

http://www.hispasonic.com/comunidad/dow ... p?id=85751

There are 21 presets in four groups: ambience, room, hall and plate.

It's all about Aether....

Impulses are nice..but seem static and lifeless. Good in a pinch. Algorithmic reverbs ala hardware units seem to be the ones that prick my ears up each and every time. Aether is just about the best I've heard.
Though..the EMT's on the Uad are also excellent at what they do.

Well I been messing with PSP Reverbs lately and like the subtle harmonics it introduces. I just tried it on the whole mix, sounded good, not much gain, really good for adding sheen to a mix.
