funny, I have no space for the LP. I plan on putting it on a USB leash tied to the laptop and putting it on its side wherever it will fit. it will be on my lap, held in the air, laid on top of the mpc or other gear. I think it will also be great to dick around max4Live with. take the laptop away from the studio and have a button box to play with, much like using the monome to learn max/msp.

as for creative ideas, the sky is the limit. I look forward to playing Tetris on it. ;) it all depends on how you spend your time. I'm not really sure where your interests lie, hence my reaction, if you don't know, don't get it. we all work differently.

the strange part about this is that the APC replaced my Novation SL. if I had to choose... I'd get a BCF and LP. faders really are preferable for track volume.

we've pined for Henke's custom controller for years, now we've got several custom Live controllers to choose from, fucking awesome! then dumbasses like yourself and reflective(?? that was the guy's name, right??) want to turn this into a flame war of controllers. all controllers are welcome FFS. I see the APC as sitting on my desk for level controls and general control over Live. I see the LP as tethered to my laptop with a USB cable, sitting in my lap, being held in the air, doing weird shit with max4Live. for detailed knob twiddling I use my BCR in manual map mode. this is how I roll, we all play with Live differently. you're the one limiting what people should use, I welcome and want it all.
Not trying to start a fight at all. I welcome all the growing choices of controllers but I do not want it all and would rather help people make sensible decisions based on facts. It just gets annoying to have APC40 owners like you getting all worked up whenever people mention they might prefer the Launchpad over the APC40 for various reasons, as indicated by your first post in this thread.

If you want both, then get both. Good for you. Have a cookie. No need to put others down for choosing one over the other.

i like m4l idea. tetris...ill believe it when i see it :) i have the LP on order, plan on working it into the studio and seeing how it plays out. My apc40 gets used a lot, but I doubt to the full potential. I don't do live performance so I do a lot with the Live interface itself. So in some ways I don't need all the buttons on the APC. I love gadgets though, so like i said, we'll see how it plays out.

I would like to see some modes for the LP which interact closely with delay/looper/beatrepeat. something that would be IMPOSSIBLE to do with a mouse and keyboard...something creative with LEDs and button grids.
